blue dress saga 7

I Woke very early
To a Dawn chorus where
The male birds were
Singing they wake up, they share
When the mornings are still
And the traffic is low
It is then that their voices
Reach further you know

The females are drawn to the Aria’s
Robins and Skylarks begin
Thrushes and blackbirds
and Chiff Chaffs and Black Caps
Giving their sonnets a fling
A strong light was indeed developing
A really blue sky overhead
The early bird
catches the worms
As we know
But early birds impress the females
And show
Them it’s a time when the energy flows
and when predators tend to be
Not on their toes

Tell me little wren
What ails you today?
It is all the plastic
That’s coming our way
Bottles and plastic cups
Left everywhere
Straws and spoons
Littering so much despair
Remnants of food in
Containers just left
The absence of thought
Leaving many bereft
All sorts of plastics
And polythene
You humans turn out much
From the machine

And many ingest it
It is everywhere
Comes in via the wind
Or is just left there
They come for picnic
And leave stuff behind
Too Lazy to bin it
That’s what we find

Some we can eat
But the plastics
Are bad
They breakdown to tinier pieces
It’s sad
For that’s when we may eat it
Wherever we go
And that makes us sick
And some fail to grow

Such vulnerability
Lots now in fright
By the time predators roll out
The song birds take flight
When traffic builds up
and the noise it resounds
We need to get going
In leaps and in bounds
In your blue dress
How do you feel
Said Cyril the Squirrel
From the Wirral
A real
Bundle of fun
With the squidjiest tail
Bumping along
A confident male

A touch of parkour
A gymnast he be
Stripping the bark
From a youthful Birch tree
Comfortably nervous
In so many ways
He hears something
And bundles off
and displays
A verve And a coyness
Chasing the light
Leaping and peeping
And finding his height

Festooned with sticky buds
And some more sweet
Loving the panoply
It’s the SPRING treat
For all of us actually
But plastic bits
Really in the scheme of things
Really it sits
In a worrying area
Some little souls
Have keeled over and died
They lost their controls
Things got all mucky
As gritty as hell
Nothing’s the same
And lots are unwell
Fly tipping great stacks
Of rubble and grit
Old cans of paint
That smells quite a bit
Just dumped on the apron
A slovenly act
Pollution is active
That is a fact

The creatures are wary
The ponging unclean
Where there were once bluebells
Now the obscene
The frantic the chaotic
It gets to us we
Rankle and fester
This just shouldn’t be
It is disconcerting
A magickal wood
With wonderful tree lines
Leafy and good
Amazing light forces
And recuperation
Of shrubs generating
A Truer salvation

Virulence causes
A Hazarding time
The insects and birds
Caught up in the slime
The fungal uncertainty
Dripping with ooze
Mother Nature is active
And trying to please
She the great balancer
Able to be
Creative with cover
It’s her sanctuary
Major activity
Laying in more
Thorns yes and tangle
Hustlers for sure

Brambles to catch hold
Of ankles and knees
Scrub is essentially
Trying to squeeze
A ribbon of briars
Neglected they swell
So many layers
The wildness to sell
The boar and the wolves
Have left long ago
Man ruins everything
That much we know
But magickal beings
Are still everywhere.
Embracing the present
And cleaning the air
As the rooks and the jays
On the scene what they do
Is bury the acorns
And the insects work through

It’s a whole living paradigm
Thorns everywhere
Ideal nesting sites
For those more aware
Magpies they frequent
The Hawthorn and they
Build their twig and clay nests
Higher each day
Everything’s managed
Cause and effect
The sweet fairy May
The scent we detect
Heady and warm
With its snowy white flowers
And Insects and Bees
With their ultimate powers
Of seduction and sweetness
And, so much more
An essential spirit no one
Can ignore

My blue dress has brought me
Resources and guile
I have met many friends
When we chat for a while
All the time learning
The need to respect
The spellbinding magic
Which is often just checked
And preserved in a bounteous way
To enchant and astound
At the end of each day
Conversing and learning
From the bugs and the bees
From the moths and the butterflies
Wishing to please
The scurrying rodents
The great thinking owls
Crusaders and knights
In their own special way
Who forgive and forget
Just to get through each day,

Poetic justice it’s just everywhere
It seems like a battle ground
Unchallenged and fair
So many levels of life
Side by side
Atonement and sacrifice
It’s one long ride
A parallel universe
Everywhere
And millions and millions
Of the aware

I Woke very early To a Dawn chorus where The male birds were Singing they wake up, they share When the mornings are still And the traffic is
