As you all know I don\u2019t
\nWalk very far
\nBut I started talking
\nTo the creatures that are
\nResident outside in my garden
\nWhere
\nThey all seem to be
\nand none of them care
\nAbout whether I walk far
\nOr how old I be
\nThey give me respect
\nBy answering me<\/p>\n
So I read my poems to them
\nEveryday
\nSit on the old bench
\nAnd just read away
\nHello Mr Bee in tHe rosemary flowers
\nCollecting the honey
\nFor so many hours
\nWhere do you come from
\nDo you fly far
\nWith your extra large body
\nAnd small wings
\nYou are
\nAerodynamically Not all that hot
\nYou are right MR REX
\nThere isn\u2019t a lot
\nOf humans who notice
\nThat factor of life
\nUs Bees find it hard
\nAnd it causes us strife
\nSo to talk to a Druid
\nWhose willing to share
\nHis words of wisdom
\nFor us that is rare
\nIt\u2019s true we have tiny wings
\nAnd our body\u2019s not small
\nIf it rains we stay in
\nAnd cold as a rule
\nFlying we have to
\nEat food that\u2019s extreme
\nFor our wings have to buzz
\nOr we run out of steam
\nIt\u2019s so much of a struggle
\nCooperatively
\nTo work for the hive
\nSo diligently
\nwhen agaricides threaten
\nEMF too
\nAll sorts of sprays
\nWhat some of you do
\n3 g and 4 g And 5 g
\nIt\u2019s hard
\nAnd then you take our honey
\nSo Mr Bard
\nWhy do you humans think honey for bees
\nIs honey for humans
\nCan you tell me please?
\nWe don\u2019t look like you do we
\nSo how can it be
\nWith much a shorter life spans
\nYou think you are me<\/p>\n
I tried to explain to him
\nI don\u2019t eat honey
\nBut he told me there\u2019s jars of it
\nSet thick and runny
\nHeated and shaken
\nAnd ruined, and that he
\nAnd his friends they are sicker
\nFor the sugar that be
\nExchanged for the honey
\nThe white refined stuff
\nThat is awful to taste
\nAnd why they all feel rough<\/p>\n
Why it\u2019s harder and harder
\nTo make all this honey
\nFor humans to ruin
\nJust to make money
\nI said I agreed
\nArrogance rules
\nThe public alas
\nMany are fools
\nThey don\u2019t know the science
\nAnd others don\u2019t care
\nAs long as it\u2019s cheap
\nAnd there\u2019s plenty to spare<\/p>\n
He said don\u2019t you know
\nAbout HMF
\nI said yes I do
\nBut the public are being conned
\nSadly it\u2019s true
\nSo the quality they buy
\nIs really quite low
\nIt\u2019s no better than jam
\nBut they just do not know<\/p>\n
His baskets were full
\njust from my garden and he
\nSaid he\u2019d have to go home
\nPerhaps he would see
\nMe tomorrow his sadness
\nIt was very clear
\nI bade him farewell
\nWiping a tear <\/p>\n
Today my old cherry tree
\nBurst into flower
\nStill sporting some of last years
\nLeaves was that power
\nI said to the tree
\nWhy do your keep hold
\nOf most of your leaves
\nWhen it gets freezing cold<\/p>\n
When the winds come
\nYou battle to hold them in place
\nWhy do you do that
\nWhy can\u2019t you face
\nLosing them letting them
\nFall to the ground
\nAnd act as a compost
\nLike others around<\/p>\n
Well Mr Druid you see
\nI am small
\nOf stature so stocky
\nBut not very tall
\nIt\u2019s called marcescent
\nWe cling to our leaves
\nWhen new growth arrives
\nand what this achieves
\nIs a good stock of nutrients
\nSo when In SPRING
\nour blossoms arrive
\nAnd we flourish and sing<\/p>\n
In lockdown or house arrest
\nTalking to friends
\nWho come and sit by me
\nIt actually lends
\nJoyfulness
\nEvery day
\nWhen the sun\u2019s out
\nI don\u2019t have to distance myself
\nIn no doubt
\nFriends all around me
\nTeaching me things
\nAnd what I can do is
\nTo Share if it brings
\nLight hearted knowledge
\nFrom the creatures around
\nOutside my house
\nThat now do abound<\/p>\n
