{"id":45233,"date":"2020-04-05T09:31:56","date_gmt":"2020-04-05T09:31:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=45233"},"modified":"2020-04-05T09:35:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-05T09:35:57","slug":"simon-cotterill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2020\/04\/simon-cotterill\/","title":{"rendered":"Simon Cotterill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The greenwood moss and emerald robe<br \/>\nWorn by my good friend who<br \/>\nIs a lover of great stories<br \/>\nAnd of Avebury he is true<br \/>\nTo himself and to his lady<br \/>\nThe caring Ann Goldstraw<br \/>\nWho enjoys his many outdoor pursuits<br \/>\nAnd  is confident and sure<\/p>\n<p>A man of many subtleties<br \/>\nKnowledgable and true<br \/>\nLiving now in Stafford<br \/>\nWho takes a hearty view<br \/>\nOf life and all the countryside<br \/>\nOf walking near and far<br \/>\nLoves the wild creations<br \/>\nIn their drama he does star<\/p>\n<p>The ancient sacred landscapes<br \/>\nLong barrows and the like<br \/>\nThe colours and the textures<br \/>\nAnd the tones from every hike<br \/>\nHe fills his lungs with crispness<br \/>\nAnd his heart so full of gold<br \/>\nAnd  breathes in all those miracles<br \/>\nOn which of course he is sold<\/p>\n<p>Avebury is at the centre of three<br \/>\nGreat watersheds and they<br \/>\ndrain Way<br \/>\nIn three directions into the sea<br \/>\nEach day<br \/>\nOn the centre of the Michael Line<br \/>\nSharing an ancient pedigree<br \/>\nSimon feels that in his heart<br \/>\nIt\u2019s where he needs to be<\/p>\n<p>A man of thought and function<br \/>\nThe walks there he can do<br \/>\nUp windmill hill Silbury  hill<br \/>\nThe Ridgeway  ancient still<br \/>\nThe natural  spring and yew tree<br \/>\nAt Alton Priors he<br \/>\nSoaks up all its prominence<br \/>\nAnd cosmology<\/p>\n<p>And It gets into his gristle<br \/>\nAt the magical Fyfield Downs<br \/>\nWith its massive sarsens representing<br \/>\nIn that energy he drowns<br \/>\nHis ardour, and such a scholarly activity<br \/>\nFor he<br \/>\nCan take himself to<br \/>\nStone Henge<br \/>\nAnd of course to Avebury <\/p>\n<p>Boscastle and some  amazing walks<br \/>\nThe great height to the sea<br \/>\nSoaking in the salty air<br \/>\nAnd marvelling a key<br \/>\nTo greater thought of ancient beings<br \/>\nLiving in the raw<br \/>\nFollowing in their footsteps<br \/>\nIs what he is living for<\/p>\n<p>A watcher of the old ways<br \/>\nErudite, a sage<br \/>\nRecently campanology<br \/>\nPresents another page<br \/>\nIn Simon\u2019s true activity<br \/>\nHis energy and mind<br \/>\nSuch remarkable perspicacity<br \/>\nAnd awareness hard to find<\/p>\n<p>A vivid imagination<br \/>\nHe thinks outside the box<br \/>\nLoves the ancient wisdoms<br \/>\nFor him knowledge unlocks<br \/>\nHis inventive creativity<br \/>\nAnd his sympathy and more<br \/>\ninterpreting the magic<br \/>\nThat so many just ignore<\/p>\n<p>Onto Victor Hugo<br \/>\nWho wrote of  Notre Dame<br \/>\n\u201cThe great lady of Paris\u201d<br \/>\nOf Quasimodo\u2019s calm<br \/>\nBut ridden by his repulsive looks<br \/>\nAnd deafened by the bells<br \/>\nLoved one Esmeralda<br \/>\nWith his own made up love<br \/>\nspells<br \/>\nThat emanate from caring<br \/>\nAnd campanology<br \/>\nit was where he lost<br \/>\nHis ability to hear<br \/>\nAnd sensationally<br \/>\nFound  fascination from all of that<br \/>\nIn the history of time<br \/>\nThe bell ringer the dancer<br \/>\nThe tragedies sublime<\/p>\n<p>For me it is an honour<br \/>\nTo know someone like you<br \/>\nClad in greenwood moss  and emerald<br \/>\nMaking  dreams come true<\/p>\n<p>Happy birthday dear friend 2\/4 <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The greenwood moss and emerald robe Worn by my good friend who Is a lover of great stories And of Avebury he is true To himself and to his lady The caring Ann Goldstraw Who enjoys his many outdoor pursuits &hellip;
