A call came in
\nA street dog who apparently
\nHad been
\nsleeping rough around the cars
\nAnd looking rather lean
\nWe went down to try and find him
\nAnd under a white car
\nThere he was quite fearful
\nHiding, he the star
\nOf the show that afternoon
\nI called him you could feel
\nHe was quite uneasy
\nAnd that much was real
\nSo he then went under another car
\nQuite a handful he
\nFrightened by an ice cream truck
\nThen ran away to be
\nInside a gated entrance
\nI used my hand held snare
\nAnd caught him
\nHe was scruffy and dirty
\nBut aware<\/p>\n
Still boisterous and happy
\nLots of energy
\nBut really very scruffy
\nAnd calmed down eventually
\nAt the vet
\nof course we washed him
\nShaved his hair away
\nA nice medicated shower
\nAnd dried him
\nAnd he lay<\/p>\n
Looking fairly joyful
\nAnd a foster home we found
\nAnd he was off
\nTo spend some time
\nCovering new ground<\/p>\n
It must have been a month or so
\nWhen a call came in
\nTo say
\nThey found a dog called \u201cBUFFY\u201d
\nAnd a home for paws disc, they
\nWondered if we knew who owned
\nHim he was the worse for wear
\nBleeding rather badly
\nAnd nobody to care<\/p>\n
I rang around and realised
\n\u201cBUFFY\u201d was \u201cFASBY\u201d who
\nWas really at his forever home
\nSo I was clueless to
\nWhat in fact had happened
\nWhen his new owner said she
\nWas out walking with \u201cBUFFY\u201d
\nWhen a Coyote came
\nTo see<\/p>\n
Both of them the little dog
\nWas thinking his human might
\nBe frightened about the Coyote
\nAnd so went to have a fight
\nDown among the horse trails
\nThe coyote bit into
\n\u201cBuffy\u201d but apparently he escaped
\nIt\u2019s what they do<\/p>\n
And then went back to attack the beast
\nand again was bitten by
\nAnd then a third time
\nAttacked the beast
\nClearly he did try
\nWanted to save his mistress
\nThe coyote wasn\u2019t there
\nSo Whatever else that Happened
\nThe dog was so aware<\/p>\n
Clearly \u201cBUFFY\u201dhad
\nSaved his brand new owner
\nThough he was wounded bad
\nStuck to it
\nA real warrior
\nThe coyote ran away
\nAnd once again
\nThe little dog
\nTook a hit but was ok.<\/p>\n
Up to a point
\nHe was taken to the vet again
\nHis injuries were cleaned up
\nBut really it was plain
\nHe was very courageous
\nHis time on the street do doubt
\nHad given him the confidence
\nThe coyote to flout<\/p>\n
And so back home
\nWe visited him
\nAnd he showed us how and why
\nHe got away from the coyote
\nWith that twinkle in his eye
\nWith that energy
\nAnd boisterousness
\nWith confidence galore
\nHe really is a warrior
\nThat no wild beast dare ignore.<\/p>\n
