They found him in the woods
\nVery much the worse for wear
\nSomeone must have dumped him
\nImagine the despair
\nThe weakening the evil
\nTo just be left alone
\nTo somehow then survive
\nThe whole experience
\nUnknown
\nTo be found in the woods
\nA victim of nature\u2019s cruelty
\nEaten up by maggots
\nA Flyblown tragedy
\nUnaware of the perils
\nHow terribly they be
\nNeglected by a guardian
\nAnd lost effectively<\/p>\n
\u201cRufus\u201d one such victim
\nA dog whose pedigree
\nWas obviously centred
\nAnd was left regrettably
\nTo fend for himself in the wild
\nWhere he
\nDidn\u2019t have the experience on the culture
\nTragically
\nAnd so he faced the wrath of wildness
\ntaking on it all
\nBecoming beaten by the outside skirmishes
\nWe see
\nHis face so badly injured
\nBy maggots everywhere
\nThe pain the stress the awful mess
\nAnd with it the despair
\nWhen Stray Paws found him
\nIt brought tears to the eye
\nEveryone who saw him felt his agony
\nAnd why
\nA pedigree dog would be out in the woods
\nAnd then of course
\nRealised improbity May have been the source<\/p>\n
When the vet clapped eyes on him
\nHis face was in a mess 100,000 maggots
\nIt is hard to transgress,
\nthis far
\nSo much agony defenceless really too
\nThe constant exposure
\nand no knowing what to do
\nNow he has been discovered and is now under care
\nWe all could see he was starving
\nTrying to live out there<\/p>\n
Emaciated terribly weakened through and through
\nWe take on an undertaking
\nTo care for souls all through
\nNot dump them when it suits us
\nOut of sight out of mind
\nThis is not humanity
\nIt\u2019s horrific that we find
\nPeople clearly doing this
\nFor \u201cRUFUS\u201dwasn\u2019t born
\nOut there in the woods was he
\nBut he found a new dawn
\nSurgery and love and care
\nAnd time to rest and play
\nHe was so exhausted by the perilous display
\nLiterally being eaten alive
\nIn wild purgatory
\nSo Fortunate that we found him
\nand could help him thankfully<\/p>\n
Intuitive and sensitive
\nInside himself he must
\nHave suffered the emotion
\nWhich led onto disgust
\nAt just being neglected
\nBy a family that he knew
\nThat purported to love him
\nBut discarded him too
\nAny victim suffering as \u201cRufus\u201dhas
\nWould feel
\nLost depressed and sorry
\nFor him it\u2019s all been real
\nThe miserly and grudging owners
\nFrom before
\nWho clearly thought the matter through
\nAnd decided to ignore<\/p>\n
Him as his sensitivity
\nHis ebullience and his glow
\nThey themselves were low life trolls
\nIf only he could know
\nBefore he chose to live with them
\nThe vagaries of life
\nThis is what pets take on
\nWith humans and the strife
\nFor many days for many weeks
\nFor many months we cared
\nWe loved him and we showed him
\nThat there are people we shared
\nAll our waking hours with him
\nLoving him each day
\nBuilding up the stress and pain
\nThat he\u2019d felt along the way<\/p>\n
His face and skin improved a lot
\nHis heart and soul did too
\nHe gained weight he was healthier
\nAnd his mood changed yes all though
\nThe healing he was improving
\nAnd now day 112 he is back to his old way
\nA joyful playful darling boy
\nWho is loved by us today<\/p>\n
