\nLong Brown matted hair
\n2 years she\u2019d been a runaway
\nAnd looked the worse for wear
\nClearly It\u2019s a wake up call
\nAnd can be a bitter pill
\nFending for oneself alone
\nAnd, doing it still<\/p>\n
Out there in the desert
\nWhere There\u2019s no routine
\nNo one to take care of you
\nAnd the world at large is mean
\nYou do get all sorts
\nin the street
\nAnd anyone whose been
\nOut there In the dirt and in the heat
\nTimes can get lean
\nFor some dogs in the street
\nCan be big trouble
\nWhen seemingly Freedom just ought to be
\nEverywhere plain sailing
\nA kind of outdoor sanctuary
\nBut being out at night
\nWas killing me<\/p>\n
Foraging for scraps
\nYou get all knotted up
\nBits of wire and thorns
\nWhich can be rough
\nMites and ticks also
\nAre a nuisance
\nAnd today folks I had
\nWell just had enough<\/p>\n
The guys were tempting me with
\nSome sort of burger
\nCrusty vegan not that great to me
\nThe cheese though tasted alright
\nAnd then they gave me meat
\nAnd I decided well I possibly
\nWill take my chance
\nAnd basically let them catch me
\nThey used a net and I was in their car
\nSoft hands on my coat again
\nPeople who were caring
\nAnd for that moment yes I was a star<\/p>\n
Hope for paws.Org they were my angels
\nDrove in from LA apparently
\nThey had been told that a dog was in the neighbourhood
\nRunning here and there and seemingly
\nStray and so I am now in their company
\nA nice warm bath a shave and feeling great
\nOver a pound of excess hair I was carrying
\nAnd now I can wag my tail
\nAnd be sedate<\/p>\n
With all that hair off I had become
\nMuch smaller
\nOn their wooden floors I slipped and slid
\nSmooch pooch rescue are now looking after me
\nIt\u2019s good to be in someone\u2019s home my bid
\nTo have a sort of holiday with humans
\nGet micro chipped and sorted at the vet
\nThen if I get another inclination
\nOf running off again
\nThats my best bet<\/p>\n
Unless I get a forever home forever
\nSomewhere to be cared for loved and I
\nCan settle down and be perhaps the guard dog
\nOr the lap dog of the family friend
\nOr try<\/p>\n
To realise that I am getting older
\nand retirement is\u2019nt too far off
\nFor me
\nJust to spend time in the garden or wandering in the woods
