Just lying in the grass
\nNot moving in great plain
\nSuffering an agony
\nThat drives most souls insane
\nSomeone said he was beaten
\nHis spine was broken too
\nAnd therefore just neglected
\nnothing anyone could do<\/p>\n
Days passed and his suffering
\nGrew worse and worse but he
\nHad become invisible
\nA little tragedy
\nThen the angels found him
\nRealised that he
\nWas alive and wanted
\nTo be saved, wanted to see
\nAnother place other people
\nWas desperate to get away
\nAnd so managed to pick him up
\nAnd talk to him and say
\nFor days he hadn\u2019t eaten
\nAnd no water had he drunk
\nTerribly dehydrated
\nHis poor old heart had sunk
\nTo a low nobody realised
\nBut by being cared for he
\nRallied for that moment
\nHe responded, we could see<\/p>\n
We called the old boy \u201cBALAN\u201d
\nAnd he needed to
\nRest clearly exhausted
\nBy the stress he had been through
\nHe didn\u2019t have any fractures
\nHe needed love and care
\nRest and sleep
\nAnd lots of dreams
\nAnd knowing we were there<\/p>\n
Sedation was his saviour
\nWhen he awoke we saw
\nHis big brown eyes just glowing
\nLike they hadn\u2019t done before
\nWe picked out all the thorns and thistles
\nMatted in his hair
\nWhich must have caused discomfort
\nOn a scale beyond compare
\nHe wasn\u2019t eating by himself
\nBut when we helped him, he
\nLapped the liquid and seemed to want
\nMore of it thankfully
\nBeing on one\u2019s own for so long
\nWith the world outside
\nBasically ignoring you
\nYour soul urge is denied<\/p>\n
I so felt for that poor old soul
\nThe Assumptions people make
\nSuch snobbishness and sniffiness
\nAnd meanness people take
\nLiberties with weakness
\nCasting aspersions everywhere
\nHe didn\u2019t have a fractured spine
\nHe was locked in such despair
\nWhat was troubling him
\nMore than anything
\nWas relieving his bowels
\nPooping or just peeing
\nWas painful and his howls
\nWere inside himself such suffering
\nWhen nobody wants to hear
\nHe did need some surgery
\nAnd That now was clear<\/p>\n
Somebody had kicked him
\nInjured him and he
\nHad slunk off to be on his own
\nTo die in misery
\nAnd had just been forgotten
\nLying in the grass
\nNobody loved him any way
\nThey just wanted him to pass
\nBut His eyes are now wide open.
\nA beautiful hazel hue
\nAnd there is joy in that old face
\nThat\u2019s what love does do
\nSomeone somewhere will want him
\nOld souls one day die
\nBut it\u2019s not his time yet thankfully<\/p>\n
I say this with a sigh.<\/p>\n
