Africa is drying up
\nAnd heat is on the rise
\nThe land is like a desert
\nParched and is where those with eyes
\nTo see the land so desiccated
\nCry into their soul
\nElephants are falling on their knees
\nOut of control
\nThe pools are all but dried up
\nA Hippo graveyard where
\nat least 2o or so
\nHave died
\nNo one said a prayer
\nCrocodiles and fishes too
\nare now in the last throes
\nThe sun is pouring blistering heat
\nAnd the moisture left soon goes<\/p>\n
Even the vultures and jackals
\nAre attempting to have some food
\nThe larder full and overflowing
\nCorpses now are strewed
\nAlmost every which way around the pool
\nOnce where
\nA vast array would come to drink
\nBut now no one would dare
\nThe sky is high and glaring
\nThe land is hot and dry
\nThe animals are suffering
\nThey know they soon will die
\nThey need the rain to fall soon
\nWater is life to all
\nIt\u2019s like a torrid battleground
\nWhere victims now just fall<\/p>\n
Scorching singing charring
\nCombustion everywhere
\nEven the flies
\nthink twice about
\nWhether to try and share
\nThe bodies of the dying
\nSo many of them here
\ncaked in mud and thunder
\nAnd suffering great fear
\nSuch silence is mind blowing
\nThe ebb and flow of death
\nThe sickle cuts the sinew
\nand stops the vital breath
\nThere is no wind to speak of
\nAnd deadly silence falls
\nJust the clamour of the vultures wings
\nand beaks and their odd calls<\/p>\n
Bedlam a quiet howling
\nA jarring grating whine
\nOne after another as victims fall
\nMaking a precious line
\nThe likelihood of worse to come
\nIf Zimbabwe doesn\u2019t try
\nTo move Some of the animals from this place
\nUp north which is why
\nThey are bringing trucks of feed into
\nThe pools for elephants they
\nAlso do need water or they of course will pay
\nThe drought is vast and costly
\nThey so much now need rain
