Standing by the roadside
\nA victim,
\nPassers by
\nHardly realising
\nThat this donkey he did cry
\nSuffering the agony
\nOf his legs wired
\nUp and he
\nLeft to face the music
\nAs some were soon to see<\/p>\n
Taken back to hospital
\nIn a sorry state
\nOppressed and persecuted
\nClearly second rate
\nHis owner should we deign to call
\nHim that, an accursed fool
\nwhose hateful wiring tactic
\nReally did appal<\/p>\n
The maggots had got into
\nThe deep wounds via the flies
\nSo much dead flesh to be repaired
\nSpiteful frantic guys
\nWho do this sort of thing
\nTo innocent animals should be
\nFound and put in prison
\nFor life if you ask me<\/p>\n
Sedated and each day the wounds
\nWashed and bandaged anew
\nFor four weeks every single day
\nThis they had to do
\nAll the while offering love and gentle
\nHonest care
\nAnd \u201cEdward\u201d he was calm and relaxed
\nAnd clearly so aware<\/p>\n
The evil of his owner
\nAllowing this mutilation
\nAnd what was a disablement
\nFrom his own creation
\nTo do this to a living soul
\nA working vibrant friend
\nIs tantamount to monstrous
\nWhich no one could defend<\/p>\n
Two months into three months
\nNew bandages every day
\nLots of loving and caring
\nAll along the way
\nFeeding with green pastures
\nLoving caring souls
\nAnd after six long months of this

\nAnd kingly yes he be
\nHe really has got better
\nHis miracle we see
\nHe likes to trot around the yard
\nIn his princely way
\nEncouraging the others
