\nSee conflict with the people with the wild life
\nThereabouts
\nOne man who holds a camera can see<\/p>\n
And show the world at large the sort of loathing
\nThe ill feeling the intolerance
\nIt\u2019s there
\nSmouldering like a fearsome ember
\nThat photograph I will remember
\nThe one of the baby elephant
\nOn fire And in despair<\/p>\n
Following its mother
\nDesperate to get away
\nFeeling the dissension and bitterness
\nThat day<\/p>\n
On the highway Jhargram West Bengal
\nTwo years ago
\nThe elephants were running scared
\nThe villagers in tow<\/p>\n
Anger building terribly
\nBiplah was close by
\nResigned and unassuming
\nWith an ever thoughtful eye<\/p>\n
Capturing the unfriendliness
\nAggressors all the way
\nThat baby just exuding fear
\nAnd panic and that day<\/p>\n
Up against it
\nWith the evil really following through
\nBurning limbs already
\nWhat was he going to do<\/p>\n
Just follow his mother
\nHis mother was his life
\nThe burning not for turning
\nBut with the extra strife<\/p>\n
Everyone who saw this
\nFelt their agony
\nThe frustration and the suffering
\nThat everyone could see<\/p>\n
The indiscipline to do this
\nFor villagers we know
\nTheir frustration it\u2019s hard to understand
\nAs elephant herds do grow<\/p>\n
Irreverence comes rapidly
\nHumiliation too
\nAnd they take it out on the animals
\nWho haven\u2019t got a clue<\/p>\n
These trails these ways
\nhave always been
\nIngrained it\u2019s in their soul
\nIt\u2019s part of the great memory
\nEach matriarchs true role<\/p>\n
And so with burgeoning populations
\nOf course we are going to see
\nConflict and then bloodshed
\nAnd it\u2019s pachyderms who be<\/p>\n
Suffering like this wee chap
\nBurning all the way
\nHis innocence was vital
\nHis artlessness in play
\nUnlawfulness and injustice
\nThe order of this day
\nLike convicts they were running
\nCastigated by
\nA mob of angry villagers
\nThat wanted them to die<\/p>\n
