In a derelict building
\nAgainst an old wall
\nHe laid as forlorn
\nDidn\u2019t move at our call
\nHis eyes staring upwards
\nEmpty and alone
\nA little lost soul
\nNo joy had he known
\nHis back legs collapsing
\nA weariness we
\nCould see at a glance
\nIn his eyes staringly
\nLooking through us and passed us
\nInto a place
\nSo unexpressive
\nA meaningless space<\/p>\n
Back at the hospital
\nHe was so low
\nLaid there not moving
\nNo fractures on show
\nBut very exhausted
\nHis spine injured, we
\nLoved him and patted him
\nAnd let him see
\nThat he\u2019d reached a place
\nWhere love and where care
\nWas now all around him
\nSo many would share
\nTheir smiles and their petting
\nAnd true sympathy
\nAnd help him to heal
\nWhich he did earnestly<\/p>\n
His nerves had to heal
\nHis heart had to too
\nNeglect over long periods
\nWhat that does do
\nIs gets to the soul
\nAnd reluctantly we
\nLose sight of the future
\nAnd life generally
\nconstantly non accepted
\nWe then just decline
\nAnd wither away
\nThe sun doesn\u2019t shine
\nAnymore in our hearts
\nAnd so love coming back
\nCan be instrumental
\nIn avoiding the flack
\n\u201cMr Kisses\u201d just loved being
\nLoved by us all
\nKisses and cuddles
\nFor him were the rule
\nThat cajoled and demanded
\nThat he came to rise
\nAnd his joyful embrace
\nReached up into the skies<\/p>\n
No longer was he
\nIn a paralysed state
\nHe was leaping about
\nSo much he did rate
\nTAil wagging Away
\nCuddles and more
\nHe just loves being with us
