A hopeless state
\nAn emotion date
\nLoneliness a loss
\nHis life became so empty
\nNo one cared a toss
\nAn injury and Kalu
\nBasically just gave
\nFound a hole to lay in
\nWhich would end up as his grave<\/p>\n
Hours and days passed slowly
\nThe maggots came to feed
\nIn his emotional squalor
\nHow could he succeed
\nHe wanted death to capture him
\nLost to the world of life
\nDying under the ground he was
\nLiving with the strife<\/p>\n
A lost soul facing so much pain
\nWhining from time to time
\nRescued by the angels from the street
\nAnd one did climb
\nDown to him and found him
\nRacked with utter fear
\nReady to give up perhaps
\nIt wasn\u2019t truly clear<\/p>\n
We rescued him and took him home
\nHis courage was immense
\nHis spirit overflowing
\nAnd so it did make sense
\nTo help him overcome the drama
\nClearly he had much
\nBut his fearlessness was apparent
\nHe just loved to have us touch<\/p>\n
Wounded it was critical
\nThe worst we have ever seen
\nHis face had all been eaten away
\nBy the maggots
\nHe was lean
\nHadn\u2019 t eaten for weeks on end
\nWe powdered him to kill
\nThe maggots feeding avidly
\nChewing even still<\/p>\n
The powder killed the maggots
\nAnd we set to work to clean
\nHis skull was clearly evident
\nHis eyes were gone
\nHow mean
\nlife is
\nWhen you are on your own
\nAnd clearly he was that
\nBut we loved him and we cared for him
\nExactly where he sat<\/p>\n
On day three gave him food
\nHe couldn\u2019t see us but he knew
\nWe were giving him much love
\nTo last his whole day through
\nWe washed and bandaged every day
\nA gradually we saw
\nThe miracle as his face grew back
\nAlmost like before<\/p>\n
And his eye appeared so one eye at least
\nHe could see through once again
\nHe really was a warrior
\nHis suffering was insane
\nAnd now three months of healing
\nAnd he is a splendid boy
\nEverybody loves him
\nHe is our pride and joy<\/p>\n
The miracle regenerates
\nHis handsome face is back
\nHe lost his right eye that\u2019s for sure
\nBut despite all the attack
\nOf the maggots has his left eye
\nAnd can see and balance well
\nHe runs about the compound
