The wilderness in Winter
\nTo realise it\u2019s way
\nEnduring and perpetual
\nevery single day
\nSubsisting as so many do
\nWithin the confines there
\nWhere winter casts its shadows
\nAnd causes some despair
\nA canvas blank and snowy white
\nWith silhouettes for trees
\nThe earth below the frosty climes
\nOur family all agrees
\nIs happiness personified
\nThe cubs and us two who
\nHave beaten off the hunter men
\nAnd all know what to do<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like a world of difference
\nDown here in the dark
\naway from galloping horses
\nAnd riders in the park
\nWhipping dipping tripping
\nChasing us for fun
\nThe hounds are all around us
\nWhen the day is done
\nThere is no similarity
\nWith soldiers anywhere
\nThese brutes are never warriors
\nNone of these blighters care
\nThey chase us to the point
\nOf no return and if they get
\nA chance the hounds will gorge
\nThemselves and we are then the debt<\/p>\n
We have great hearts a pumping
\nLegs to run away
\nEyes to see and ears to hear
\nOur union does pay
\nWe have our splendid family
\nA love that never dies
\nSeparation grieves
\n us
\nUnderneath the skies
\nAs foxes we are as unique
\nAs any charged with life
\nOur bond is with each other
\nWe share the constant strife
\nEach rock each root each hollow
\nTree roots copses and caves
\nWe know how to keep aHead
\nOf the hunting knaves
\nWe enjoy a state of order
\nOur fitness is our own
\nYes of course we are vulnerable
\nSo much of that is known
\nBut we are a wild family
\nSouls who truly care
\nWith powers of thought
\nAnd intellect
\nWhich all of us all share
\nOne step ahead of hunters
\nWhose senselessness on show
\nAlways quick to anger
\nFrighteningly so
\nIgnorant and arrogant
\nand often drunk as well
\nTo all of you fighting for us
\nWe so love you and shall<\/p>\n
