Where is the mentality
\nOr the reasoning power
\nWe need a stream of consciousness
\nFor without it, it feels sour
\nA dose instead of mindlessness
\nA much more vacuous view
\nFor elephants to play Polo
\nIt\u2019s not what animals do
\nForcing and coercing
\nCajoling as we see
\nUsing canes to whip them
\nThis should never be
\nIn the so called excitement
\nThe mahouts all want to win
\nThe heedlessness is often
\nAnd a blind spot to the din<\/p>\n
Five year olds of course they play
\nBut competitively that\u2019s not the way
\nIt\u2019s violence that makes elephants run
\nAnd chase a putt, and what we have done
\nIs force a beast to ignore its weight
\nIt\u2019s feet not meant as many state
\nLack of respect for the elephants who
\nGet scarred and wounded because they do<\/p>\n
It\u2019s irrational behaviour here
\nIt does lack judgement too and it\u2019s clear
\nElephants often hesitate
\nThat\u2019s when accidents happen
\nAt a rate
\nTheir feet are not designed to be
\nInvolved with such tomfoolery
\nMahouts should realise and be seen
\nTo be respectful and not so mean<\/p>\n
Nepal accomplishes my regret
\nGifted elephants hold a debt
\nTaken from the wild to be
\nPolo players for us to see
\nIt makes no sense it\u2019s asinine
\nAnd so unseemly down the line
\nMy wish is POLO cannot be
\nFor elephants
\nAnd we all must see<\/p>\n
