\nMade to work
\nNeglected often every day
\nThese donkeys really enjoy life
\nAnd work hard for a
\nBag of hay<\/p>\n
Considering the work they do
\nIts very hard to understand
\nWhy owners should neglect them
\nOften tied up on the land
\nThis faithful fellow
\nWas just this
\nTied to a post and left to be
\nStarving
\nAnd the rope of course
\nCut into his leg
\nUnfortunately<\/p>\n
Out in the dust and dirt
\nWe see
\nBlowflies coming instantly
\nLaying eggs
\nAnd maggots start
\nTo eat away
\nIt breaks my heart
\nTo see poor donkeys in this way
\nNeglected so
\nAnd left to pay<\/p>\n
Everyday as street angels we
\nPick up many victims
\nAnd do hopefully
\nHeal them and love them
\nAnd give them hope
\nTo live without pain
\nOr in this case a rope<\/p>\n
That cut into his leg
\nAnd was embedded there
\nSurely such pain
\nAnd rotten despair
\nRemoving the rope
\nAnd all the maggots
\nAnd dirt
\nWe bandaged the leg
\nHaving washed it with soap<\/p>\n
In a very short time
\nIt was clean and was healing
\nWhich honestly folks is very revealing
\nWith good food and love and care
\nAnimals do
\nRespond very well
\nAnd it\u2019s always been true
\nAnd is why we help them
\nAnd love them as ours
\nFor it gives them new life
\nAnd extraordinary powers<\/p>\n
\u201cJeepers\u201d we\u2019d called him
\nAn by jeepers he is now living with us
\nAnd other donkeys and calves we have saved
\nAnd plays around the yard and is loved by all our staff<\/p>\n
