For hundreds of years
\nFor far greater numbers
\nOf male calves born
\nSadly have been
\nAbused and just thrown on the dust heap of life
\nThat practice I feel is
\nObscene<\/p>\n
It revolves around milk
\nand the dairy
\nAnd farmers
\nwant babies and so
\nIf they are male they are murdered
\nAt birth
\nThey are kidnapped
\nas most of you know<\/p>\n
Here is a baby
\nWe have named him \u201cAutumn\u201d
\nHe is calf who was found
\nDumped on a rubbish tip
\nIn Rajastan
\nIn his own blood being drowned<\/p>\n
His jaw and his teeth
\nAnd his mouth were so injured
\nThat he couldn\u2019t eat anymore
\nHe must have been suffering
\nthe greatest pain
\nStemming from what we saw of his jaw<\/p>\n
We found him and took him to love him
\nstabilised him with pain meds
\nCleaned up the wounds and bandaged them
\nOffered him love all our heads
\ntogether
\nFor \u201cAutumn\u201d who clearly was lonely
\nWe found his mother and brought her to see
\nSo he could then suckle rather than buckle
\nFor \u201cHathor\u201d knew that it should be<\/p>\n
Sadly for male calves
\nThe human being
\nPrefers to be ignorant
\nAnd isn\u2019t seeing
\nSome now are angels
\nBut others drink milk
\nAnd are guilty of cruelty
\nAll of that ilk <\/p>\n
So take my suggestion
\n\u201cAutumn\u201d was one
\nFortunate calf
\nFrom the dump in the sun
\nHe is now back with his mother and she
\nWill serve him each day till he grows
\nNaturally<\/p>\n
He is one in a trillion
\nFor the others who try
\nIn their farmyards to hope
\nSadly they all die
\nWhereas this little fellow
\nFound heaven on earth
\nAnd a bunch of angels
\nWho knew of his worth<\/p>\n
If we had not found him
\nWe would most certainly have died
\nBut it took just two weeks
\nAnd he was back on side
\nNow with his mother
\nAnd with other friends
\nDonkeys and calves and cows
\nAnd it sends
\nAn aura of peace of loving of care
\nFor he is getting stronger
\nAnd is one of the rare
\nCalves who will make it
\nWhere others do not
\nPerhaps we must realise
\nThe life we have got<\/p>\n
Doesn\u2019t need cows milk
\nWe are not bovine
\nWe are Human and so
\nLet that be a sign
\nLet the ungulate families
\nSup from their mama
\nAnd grow stronger and loving
