\nHow could that be right

\nProtected by the Trust
\nThe whispering knights
\nA burial chamber
\nThe Kings Stone
\nAnd we see
\nThe Kings Men stones
\nUniquely placed
\nAt The age of constancy<\/p>\n
Oolitic limestone
\nTaking some 4000 hours to build
\nThis a unique monument
\nWhich of course does yield
\nTruly many visitors
\nFrom almost everywhere
\nAnd To even think of damaging
\nThis site, so much despair.
\nIs created to believers
\nWho frequent and desire
\nTo walk these hallowed grounds
\nAnd share their rituals
\nIn a fire
\nof what is true emotion
\nAnd dedication they
\nDruids come and solemnly
\nPass the time of day<\/p>\n
Substantial and essential
\nIt\u2019s tangible it\u2019s there
\nPolarities apparent
\nIncomparable we share
\nSincerity and genuineness
\nA meeting place they be
\nThe sabbat\u2019s are engaging
\nWith a true integrity.
\nAs to whether neolithic
\nAncestors Mind that much
\nIf we save new generations
\nAnd Really try to touch
\nTheir need above a pile of ancient stones
\nWhich goes to show
\nThe ignorance and arrogance
\nOf some people in the know<\/p>\n
Our heritage and history
\nMeans little when one is caused to think
\nOf trucks and delivering mail order
\nAnd high streets on the brink
\nThey keep increasing business rates
\nAnd shops keep closing down
\nAnd deliveries by mail order
\nAre killing the town
\nBut just destroy the heritage
\nThe ancient sites, to me
\nIs sacrilege its lacking understanding
\nFor they see
\nLittle in the way of things
\nIn orderliness and harmony
\nThere is no prioritisation
\nTo a logical degree<\/p>\n
These stones have stood
\nThere aeons
\nA holy and sacred site
\nAttracting Druids and others
\nEach sabbat and their right
\nOf access to such wonders
\nMust never be denied
\nAntiquity is a value
\nThat should be borne
\nWith pride<\/p>\n
An Oxfordshire should realise
\nOf Long Compton\u2019s history
\nRollrights need protecting
\nNot threatened now to be
\nCast aside so traffic
\nCan tear down country lanes
\nWe must preserve our culture
\nFor therein lies the gains

\nAnd to not be out of touch<\/p>\n
I call on all of you this day
\nTo realise that we
\nDruids seekers people
\nWe all choose to be
\nAgainst the ruination
\nOf artifact\u2019s and you
\nShould care about posterity
\nAnd when and how you do
\nWhat you do in the Council
\nTo consider another way
\nOf reducing contamination
\nBy making polluters pay.<\/p>\n
A quiet lane clothed in simple trees
\nAtop a hill, of fields
\nStaring down to Chipping Norton
\nTo the sight that yields
\nA beautiful expression
\nA musical embrace
\nThe bird song and the crackling branches
\nAn ancient site whose grace<\/p>\n
Draws a wondrous light and shade
\nA vividness all see
\nA place to have a picnic
\nAnd relax and try to be
\nMuch closer to Nature
\nUnder the great sky
\nThat has looked down on the
\nRoll right stones
\nFor an age and does know why<\/p>\n
