Detritus haunts the beaches
\nThe oceans and the seas
\nFrom shopping trolleys to
\nPlastic dollies
\nThe world at large agrees
\nThe wide expanse of heaven and
\nEarth
\nSuitably exacerbates
\nThe Albatross is at a loss
\nFor within her soul she recreates
\nA body full of plastic
\nBottle caps and hooks
\nIn amongst the feathers
\nOne can see it if one looks
\nWe all can face the consequence
\nOf littering each day
\nWe kill now without thinking
\nOr we look the other way<\/p>\n
We are all polluters
\nEach and every one
\nWe sail out in the sunset
\nWhen the day is done
\nThe live birds they are gazing
\nAt the surf the waves the sky
\nBut Death looks wholly ghastly
\nIn the closing of an eye
\nFeathers dance and blow around
\nTorn from bodies they
\nThe Albatross it\u2019s wing span
\nThe order of display
\nKatabatic drifters
\nSoar into the sky
\nWaving wings of wildness
\nAs the sailor boys do lie<\/p>\n
Mirrored on the surface
\nA version so complete
\nTheir silence is our promise
\nAnd our plastic not discreet
\nof course we feed the ocean
\nPlastic particles galore
\nNets, restraints and chemicals
\nAnd weaponry of war
\nUnafraid these wondrous birds
\nWho trust our every gaze
\nWe toss our vilest decadence
\nIt\u2019s just another phase
\nOf being wholly trusting
\nBehold each Fairy Tern
\nOne egg laid upon a branch
\nAnd a chick shows it\u2019s concern
\nFluffy white and timid
\nAwaiting its mama
\nShe will feed him minnows
\nFor To him she is his star<\/p>\n
Wildness is our saviour
\nA solace we involve
\nAll the secrets are in sound
\nAnd listening we solve
\nThe obvious the plastic
\nThe obnoxiousness of oil
\nThe raucous choirs of the Albatros
\nWhose wings do surely toil
\nWho fly above in gliding forms
\nA symphony in flight
\nPlastic it\u2019s now everywhere
\nIt\u2019s rotting in our shite
\nIt\u2019s poisoning digestion\u2019s
\nAll around the world
\nBut a mother does not give
\nA toss
\nBecause she is an Albatross
\nOut of the nest a foreign thing
\nThis indeed is how we bring<\/p>\n
Reality into the light
\nA familiar thought
\nHowever slight
\nNot hard wired to accept the fate
\nOf the Albatross chick
\nAnd it\u2019s present state
\nPlastic complicates it all
\nWith tides we watch it
\nSink and fall
\nThe natural world
\nAnd where we are hurled
\nSink or swim
