What does Christmas mean to people
\nto a child whose lost
\nher parents due to HIV
\nand feels that enormous cost
\nremembering her mother
\nhow she held her
\nhow she smiled
\nHow she told her she was there for her
\nhow she was her first child
\na bowl of mash was all we ate
\nbut made with love, and we
\njust sat there on the dry parched earth
\nour dreams, imaginary<\/p>\n
father he was stronger
\nhe had an angry voice
\ncompared to mother he was course
\nbut then kid’s have no choice
\nwe’re told these are your parents
\nand we have to go along
\nwith the fact,
\nbut really Christmas
\nreminds me just how wrong<\/p>\n
father was for roaming
\nhis urges took control
\nit reminds me of my mother
\nshe was such a precious soul
\nfather wasn’t close at all
\nneither was my brother
\nbut I resented father
\nfor infecting my mother<\/p>\n
he brought it home
\nthe HIV
\noh! yes he did and it seems to me
\nand she alas was the first to die
\nshe had lots of pain
\nwhich made me cry<\/p>\n
and I think about my mother
\nhow she did love me
\nhow she told me stories
\nand sat me on her knee
\nit feels as though
\nit was yesterday
\nI remember her soft touch
\nso I can’t abide my father
