An old street dog
\nFound lying in a gutter
\nDirty water dragging himself along
\nA victim of a collision
\nWith a vehicle
\nOn his side just altogether wrong
\nA blind eye to the heavens
\nHis good eye covered by
\nThe water and the gulley
\nIn A waking nightmare there he lie<\/p>\n
Anguish angst and agony
\nHis purgatory there
\nCondemned to such a setback
\nFramed in true despair
\nAnimal aid unlimited
\nWere called and came to see
\nWrapped him in a blanket
\nAnd just helped him to be<\/p>\n
Out of further danger
\nDisconcerted as could be
\nBack at the hospital
\nAdministered pain killers
\nAnd freely
\nLoved with shared affection
\nHis woeful careworn state
\nSo needing all that love and care
\nAt a gentle rate<\/p>\n
An I v drip to support him
\nIn His weak and frantic state
\nVery emaciated
\nTrying to facilitate
\nBy Day two he was just wobbling
\nCouldn\u2019t walk alone
\nGentle aiding and obliging
\nClearly the pain and thrown<\/p>\n
Him into shock and trauma
\nAnd then left on the street
\nNobody to help him
\nIn all that dust and heat
\nNobody to love him
\nAnd when we are down and out
\nA helping hand a loving word
\nThat\u2019s what it\u2019s about<\/p>\n
Starved of care and loving
\nHis injury was clear
\nLying in filthy water
\nHis bad eye made him fear
\nWhat was going on around him
\nSo to be rescued must have been
\nWonderful and to get support
\nFrom so many raised his scene<\/p>\n
Tragically his eye was lost
\nBut gradually we found
\n\u201cTwilight\u201d he took hold of life
\nAnd just loved being around
\nAll the pats and kisses
\nAnd cuddles that he got
\nHelped him just get stronger
\nAnd we all love him a lot<\/p>\n
And he knows it and he feels it
\nIt\u2019s a joy to see him here
\nHe runs about and wags his tail
\nHis recovery so clear
\nTaking his turn for the better
\nreally pulling through
\nAn old dog with a renewed gift
\nOf living which is true<\/p>\n
