A gentle soul hardworking
\nAll his days
\nHis owner was of unsound mind
\nWith wrathful indignant ways
\nToo many bursts of anger
\nA frightful man was he
\nGnashing teeth and fury
\nWas often how he be<\/p>\n
Poor “Veeru” always working
\nSlaving carrying loads
\nSuffering so much lament
\nWalking down the roads
\nClose to all that traffic
\nHis legs and feet so sore
\nHowever hard he worked all day
\nAt night it was a war<\/p>\n
He’d get beaten for his trouble
\nHe dare not sleep for he
\nMight be woken up by being kicked
\nOr his angry words would be
\nEchoing through the house
\nAnd thats when “Veeru” knew
\nHe would a get a beating
\nBut tied up, what could he do<\/p>\n
Its easy to feel bitter
\nAnd resent the cruelty
\nSuch an affront to Fairness
\nHe so audaciously
\nSwore at me and whipped me
\nAlmost every day
\nAnd all he did was work me harder
\nBut never got any hay<\/p>\n
One day “Veeru’s” legs were sore
\nAnd a heavy load of wood
\nWas tied balanced on my body
\nWhich didnt feel too good
\nI had carry it up a slope
\nAnd it much too much
\nAnd so I dropped a lot of it
\nAnd the anger then was such<\/p>\n
An awful state he took a pipe
\nAnd beat me On and off all day
\nAbout my face and neck and back
\nScreaming he did say
\nHow useless I was to him
\nHow he would have to sell
\nMe to the local slaughter house
\nFor I did nothing well<\/p>\n
He took a pipe and beat me
\nTill I could hardly see
\nBruised just about everywhere
\nAnd bleeding too sadly
\nHe was always very ugly
\nScowling all the while
\nKneeing me and kicking me
\nMy spirit he did rile<\/p>\n
He left me in a field
\nAnd the angels noticed me
\nAnimal aid unlimited
\nThey were shocked infact to see
\nMy injuries were terrible
\nMy whole body in shock
\nAll I could do was stand there
\nMy joints just seemed to lock<\/p>\n
At least a half a dozen
\nSouls came to fetch me
\nThey helped me to the ambulance
\nCarried, so weary
\nWas I, not fed at all that day
\nAnd so my rescue was
\nSomething that felt desperate
\nReally just because<\/p>\n
I thought that I would die that day
\nOut there in the field
\nNo water and no food to eat
\nAnd I was concealed
\nBut thankfully they found me
\nAnd helped me with their care
\nStopped the bleeding
\nStopped the pain
\nAnd loved me,so aware
\nOf my pitiful countenance
\nAnd my body sore
\nThey spent time looking after me
\nLike nobody had before<\/p>\n
For five weeks they were healing me
\nHe had ruptured my eye
\nDeep cuts took a while to heal
\nMy Face so bruised was why
\nI couldnt sleep or make a noise
\nI really took the brunt
\nOf that mAn’s evil anger
\nAnd the police were on a hunt<\/p>\n
To find him and to charge him
\nFor the angels said that they
\nHad never seen a more abused animal
\nAnd they
\nsay be had been arrested
\nAnd charged and Was going to court
\nAnd they were giving evidence
\nTelling what they thought<\/p>\n
I slowly became more confident
\nRealising here
\nEverybody loved me
\nI had no reason to fear
\nAlways kind soft words were spoken
\nNever tempers flying
\nLove and kisses everyday
\nAnd no thoughts now of dying<\/p>\n
This is to be my forever home
\nSo love yes everyday
\nFood and water its heavenly
\nand friends now
\ncome what may
\nI play with all the dogs
\nthe puppies cats and donkeys too
\nWe really have a lovely time
