Children were playing
\nThe roadside was noisy
\nAnd there at the foot of a wall
\nWas \u201cConnie\u201d a puppy
\nInjured and still
\nPossibly had a big fall<\/p>\n
Someone had given her a blanket
\nAnd there she was laying
\nAsleep
\nThe noise of the roadside
\nThe pain she was feeling
\nDeath with his sickle
\nDid creep
\nCloser and closer to Connie
\nThat much we realised she
\nDidn\u2019t have much time
\nJust lying there
\nSo we took her to hospital
\nTo see<\/p>\n
She had a deep wound on her neck
\nWhich had festered
\nAnd clearly could not walk at all
\nWe gave her painkillers
\nAnd washed the deep wound
\nAnd applied a clean dressing
\nTo crawl<\/p>\n
Even was not something she was doing
\nClearly she had lots of pain
\nA tiny baby without its mummy
\nNo one to learn from
\n\u2018\u2018Twas plain<\/p>\n
Just a few weeks later
\nConnie was playing
\nHealed with our duty and care
\nThough very small
\nSeemed to think she was tall
\nAnd took on the bigger pups there<\/p>\n
Free as a bird she was joyful
\nAnd loving
\nA sweet little girl
\nThat she was
\nNow she is after a forever home
\nAnd Already has found one <\/p>\n
