Beside the road
\nWe found her
\nAbandoned all alone
\nBarely breathing
\nLacking mothers milk
\nAnd the odd groan
\nEmaciated body
\nOn very feeble legs
\nA beautiful little baby
\nThe question though it begs
\nHow can human beings
\nBe so nasty and so bad
\nLeaving a baby calf upon the roadside
\nIts so sad
\nIts wicked and its sinful
\nA baby lying there
\nWhilst human beings drink
\nThe milk
\nAs if they do not care.<\/p>\n
Poor “Merry” she was exhausted
\nAn unfallen state was she
\nAnd so the angels came for her
\nAnd examined her to see
\nWhat they could do if anything
\nTo give her a fighting chance
\nIv fluids and formula
\nHelp they thought perchance
\nAnd sure enough 4 days of this
\nAnd lots of love and care
\nShe got up and was walking
\nAnd very much aware
\nRapidly she grew strong
\nCalves are patricial souls
\nBorn to walk born to be
\nFull of true controls
\nProvided they get mothers molk
\nAnd love and loads of care
\nThey well just work miracles
\nAnd their love they share<\/p>\n
The angels watched her progress
\nTail wagging puppy like
\nShe was running around the yard
\nQuite the little tyke
\nGetting loads of cuddles
\nKisses she got a load
\nAnd “Merry” is now quite a star
\nWhich is why I write this ode<\/p>\n
