There have been many problems
\nWith this particular zoo
\nA lot of animals die there
\nThat factor is true
\nBuilt in 1964
\nSupposedly to be
\nMore open and it never worked
\nSo apparently
\nin 1999 they closed the zoo
\nAnd remodelled it
\nOpened it in 2002
\nBut it was still not fit<\/p>\n
For purpose as I understand
\nConcrete everywhere
\nCell like cages
\nAbsolutely no shade
\nIt\u2019s not fair
\nTo open all these places
\nWhat we have to know
\nIs captivity is awful
\nFor the animals on show<\/p>\n
Knowledge is important
\nEach animals needs are great
\nDifferent so more specialists
\nMust be on hand to recreate
\nEnvironments and eating needs
\nZebras need to feed
\nAll day, they need pasture
\nOr it may just lead
\nTo coprophagia sadly
\nTheir feces may contain
\nHay and so they eat it
\nIt\u2019s a symptom Of disdain
\nThey are not getting enough food
\nThey need to eat all day
\nOtherwise they will eat their poo
\nJust to get the hay<\/p>\n
Animals are neglected
\nThey must be studied well
\ncaptivity already stressful
\nWatching them will tell
\nReally how they are coping
\nAnd zoo\u2019s are far from good
\nSpecialists are needed
\nAnd each species understood<\/p>\n
This zoo has 1600 animals resident, I hear
\n135 species which is very clear
\nThere isn\u2019t an admission
\nfee
\nSo money probably
\nIs tight and therefore possibly
\nIt\u2019s really hard to be<\/p>\n
on top of every circumstance
\nWhich animals do need
\nIn fact they are just prisoners
\nWild animals that lead
\nA life stuck inside cages
\nProbably they feed
\nOn less than fresh foods daily
\nWhich maybe less than what they need<\/p>\n
Animals have feelings
\nAnd they have knowledge too
\nThey feel and can sustain themselves
\nIn the wild it\u2019s what they do
\nThey eat certain plants and grasses
\nFor their equilibrium, they
\nDo this in the wild
\nBut in our prisons
\nThe delay<\/p>\n
Is that we cannot feel for them
\nNeither do we know
\nIf perhaps they are ailing
\nUntil it starts to show
\nSo we need real specialists
\nWho can understand their plight
\nStuck on concrete floors all day
\nHow can that be right<\/p>\n
No shade in the sunlight
\nDeaths become a thing
\nIn the last six years some 400 souls
\nHave died there which does bring
\nThe problem of the lack of what is expertise
\nAll of them confined
\nThey cannot eat what they choose to eat
\nAnd that tends to blow their mind<\/p>\n
Zoo\u2019s are last tbeir sell by date We need to share habitats
\nAnd at the worst sanctuaries and reserves
