Seing her for the first time
\nOnes heart missed several beats
\nThe condition was extraordinary
\nExtremes clearly unseats
\nThe logic and the feeling
\nOf any caring soul
\nTo see a dog in such distress
\nWith mange out of control<\/p>\n
Not an inch of hair was left
\nJust chafed and violent skin
\nRed raw just imagine the pain
\nYes from within
\nAnd so she ran away from us
\nEven the angels she
\nCouldnt trust to help her
\nBased on her history<\/p>\n
Neglect had been the key word
\nHumans of a kind
\nWho see her walking in the street
\nAnd might as well be blind
\nFor they pass her by
\nAn ailing case
\nAnd leave her well alone
\nAnd so this dear sweet lady
\nWas always on her own<\/p>\n
We found her and we followed her
\nFor about an hour
\nClearly she was suffering
\nSomehow she did empower
\nWhat strength she had
\nTo reason those following
\nMight harm
\nHistorically the neglect
\nWas raised when she wanted the calm<\/p>\n
Picking her up her weight was low
\nA mass of skin and bone
\nIts hard to imagine a soul inside
\nHow could she have known
\nThe mange the parasitic quest
\nTo eat into her soul
\nTo strip her skin of every hair
\nTo simply gain control<\/p>\n
Chafed and bleeding maggoty
\nInfection all the way
\nShe was close to dying
\nAnd many now would say
\nLet her go but angels see
\nFurther than their nose
\nThey wanted her to regain a life
\nAnd of course they chose<\/p>\n
To love her and to give her
\nTheir time in all of this
\n12 whole weeks of medicated baths
\nEnding in bliss
\nStill the skin was red to pink
\nBut no where was it sore
\nIt was healing beautifully
\nLike perhaps not before<\/p>\n
She still looked rather doleful
\nShe had been through a lot
\nJoylessness and a sinking heart
\nIf that is all you have got
\nIts hard to keep ones pecker up
\nBut “lottie” we could see
\nWas feeling there was progress
\nAnd that really she might be<\/p>\n
Coming really out of the woods
\nOut into the light
\nThree months later
\nOur constancy
\nClearly proved us right
\nHer pain had turned to play
\nOur kisses won her time
\nShe loved her tummy rubbed
\nAnd you should see her climb<\/p>\n
Over the adversity the dispiritedness
\nShe had felt
\nDepression had befallen her
\nAbout the cards that were dealt
\nBut she was feeling better
\nShe twinkled and she scored
\nShe loved the new life obviously
\nFor she was never bored<\/p>\n
We loved her and we cuddled her
\nAn ephoria set in
\nShe was so happy to see us
\nAnd now she wasnt thin
\nShe was a pretty lady
\nAffectionate as well
\nHeaven was now her routine
