We got a call from someone
\nA donkey sadly had
\ncollapsed and was lying in a shed
\nClearly feeling bad
\nPlastic rope around his legs
\nHad torn into the skin
\nWounding them and exposing them
\nTo flies that had crawled in
\nClouds of flies were buzzing
\nMaggots crawling too
\nEating up the flesh
\nThe stench was awful
\nIt was true
\nHe must have suffered greatly
\nThey were gnawing away
\nAt his flesh each moment
\nEvery single day<\/p>\n
We went ofcourse to see him
\nAnd his pain seemed so intense
\nIt was hard to get him on his feet
\nIt really made no sense
\nWe managed with help to get
\nHim back to the hospital where
\nWe sprayed his legs with powder
\nTo kill the maggots that were there
\nWhen we undid the dressings
\nWe picked off every one
\nBunches of them cleaned the wounds
\nAnd when the day was done
\nHe laid still cleaned and comforted
\nAnd we did this everyday
\nLoved him kissed him cared for him
\nAnd he proved he was way
\nBraver than we could imagine
\nFor before too long we saw
\nHe was up and joining in with eating
\nNo one could ignore
\nAngelo just joining in
\nWith the other animals there
\nA motley bunch of donkeys dogs and cats
\nThat all did share<\/p>\n
Their day a few weeks earlier
\nAll were at deaths door
\nWith a little love and tenderness
\nThey were here all of them sure
\nFine and dandy expressing
\nTheir love for feeling good
\nAnd animal aid unlimited
