We found her by the roadside
\nAs frightened as she could be
\nA swollen face we tried to chase
\nTried to feed to see
\nHow clearly in some pain she was
\nSuffering a lot
\nShe wouldn\u2019t eat
\nLooked dizzy
\nShe was really not
\nHappy with her lot that day
\nDisorientated, she
\nHated being touched
\nWe felt for her
\nAnd let her be<\/p>\n
Taking out a blanket
\nWe covered her and she
\nWasn\u2019t all that happy
\nBut carried her carefully
\nBack into the ambulance
\nAnd took her to our place
\nWhere care could be administered
\nThen we saw her face<\/p>\n
Close up a wound
\nUnder her throat
\nFull of maggots, she
\nWe sedated her
\nAnd cleaned the wound
\nAnd dressed it carefully
\nDay three
\nThe swelling almost gone
\nShe still stumbled a bit
\nIt took five weeks of nurturing
\nTill she looked quite fit<\/p>\n
In fact she got all frisky
\nSprightly tail up she
\nTongue out bright eyed pixie
\nA different girl she be
\nStreet life it is perilous
\nAnd clearly \u201cPauline\u201d had
\nSuffered very painfully
\nAnd had become so sad<\/p>\n
In the yard with others
\nShe clearly loved to be
\nKissed and cuddled everyday
\nIt\u2019s wonderful to see
\nAn animal transformed in fact
\nAnd looking young again
\nSeeing how she does react
