Underneath a broken car
\nShe lay grasping some shade
\nHairless,mange made her a victim
\nA mother who was laid
\nBare beneath the dripping oil
\nAnd fluids and the rust
\nOf how her world Now upside down
\nWith no one she could trust
\nClearly smarting every movement
\nReminding her that she
\nOnce had puppies at her breast
\nAnd love and care to free
\nHer from life\u2019s ugly passages
\nHow disinclined she felt
\nAs the mange bore down in her
\nThe weakest of cards were dealt<\/p>\n
Suffering uncertainty
\nHesitatingly
\nShe never had the love
\nAnd no one close no one to be
\nThere for her, I realise those feelings
\nFor I feel
\nthe Poet grasps her wbere-for-all
\nAnd sees really how real
\nIt is to change allegiance
\nTo just break with the past
\nTo want to heal to want to share
\nOut of how you are cast
\nThe mange kills many street dogs
\nIt\u2019s parasitic woe
\nAnd the angels love and attention
\nWill see it up and go<\/p>\n
IV fluids medicines
\nLots of love and care
\nMedicated bathing
\nTwice a week, a fair
\nTreatment warm and cooling
\nLoving hands to hold
\nRebuilding all those anxious thoughts
\nAll Worth their weight in gold
\nHow soon we feel rejected
\nBy friends who pass us by
\nWho spurn us and who turn us
\nInto hopeless souls that cry
\nHourly in pursuit of thoughts
\nOf choices from before
\nThe power of good and of loving
\nWhen the spirit is new and raw<\/p>\n
Loneliness is a killer
\nHaving somebody to care
\nHeals your mind and body
\nAnd gradually aware
\nThat life has much to offer
\nHow the angels helped you heal
\nA wagging tail a playful jaunt
\nHow it does reveal
\nThe greatest love for any soul
\nIs the tenderness we hold
\nFor one another in our hearts
\nNo matter now how old
\nWe are how grey, how wizened
\nThe heart is always there
\nAnd \u201cPepper\u201d found her youthfulness
\nAnd so became aware<\/p>\n
Her skin was black and shiny
\nThe mange it was no more
\nThe angels were around her
\nNo reason to feel sore
\nThey were full of smiles and love
\nAnd her tears now were of joy
\nThe poet shares an emotion
\nWhich he must now employ
\nLoving those who then love others
