{"id":42676,"date":"2019-09-21T10:44:55","date_gmt":"2019-09-21T10:44:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=42676"},"modified":"2019-09-21T11:18:49","modified_gmt":"2019-09-21T11:18:49","slug":"jeremy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/09\/jeremy\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeremy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A street dog living on a ledge<br \/>\nWith waste ground all about<br \/>\nClearly something impacted him<br \/>\nThere just could be no doubt<br \/>\nHe was so in the worse for wear<br \/>\nLiterally torn apart<br \/>\nHis left front leg was hanging<br \/>\nBy loose skin<br \/>\nAnd his broken heart<br \/>\nWas evident his agony<br \/>\nWas for everyone to see<br \/>\nHow he managed every day<br \/>\nSo defeated tragically<\/p>\n<p>He was wrapped up in a blanket<br \/>\nAnd taken back to where<br \/>\nHis healing just had to begin<br \/>\nHis injuries unfair<br \/>\nSo much pain and again<br \/>\nSo must have strife and stress<br \/>\nHow he had kept it all together<br \/>\nFor he was in, such a mess<br \/>\nmaintaining that vital force<br \/>\nTo function everyday<br \/>\nTo not give up to death<br \/>\nHis spirit underway<br \/>\nhuman kind had ignored him<br \/>\nHis plight was his and he<br \/>\nRealised his frailty<br \/>\nAnd coped reluctantly<\/p>\n<p>Adversity was his by now<br \/>\nAnguish all the way<br \/>\nAny movement he reminded<br \/>\nWith torment so each day<br \/>\nHiding in his own space<br \/>\nHis silence and his smell<br \/>\nNo one heard his cries of pain<br \/>\nOr shared his hours of hell<br \/>\nThe Poet contemplating<br \/>\nJeremy today<br \/>\nIs finding all this difficult<br \/>\nTears come and display<br \/>\nSo much woe apparent<br \/>\nSo much real discord<br \/>\nFor This emaciated fellow<br \/>\nThere just was no reward<\/p>\n<p>We doused him cleaned him<br \/>\nLoved him motionless he lay<br \/>\nGave him medicine for his soul<br \/>\nWe sedated him to pay<br \/>\nRespects to all his agony<br \/>\nHis teeth punctured his lip<br \/>\nClearly in the impact<br \/>\nAll his mouth was ripped<br \/>\nHe was bleeding he was drooling<br \/>\nHe was tearful clearly sad<br \/>\nHis ribs were poking through his side<br \/>\nEverything to add<br \/>\nTo how he felt and what he felt<br \/>\nExisting, let us say<br \/>\nIn his filthy lonely bubble<br \/>\nEvery single day<\/p>\n<p>His front left leg was terrible<br \/>\nThe bones was just smashed through<br \/>\nWe had  to amputate his leg<br \/>\nThere was nothing we could do<br \/>\nThe other three were torn as well<br \/>\nThey must have felt so sore<br \/>\nHe looked as though<br \/>\nHe really had come through a Great War<br \/>\nAll his wounds were treated<br \/>\nAnd bandaged, we loved him and<br \/>\nWe caressed him every day<br \/>\nWeeks passed he was still<br \/>\nHis will was crazy<br \/>\nHis spirit lost completely<br \/>\nA great chill<br \/>\nSeemingly had quietened him<br \/>\nOblivious to so much now around<br \/>\nHis healing took a long time<br \/>\nI suppose really it had to<br \/>\nGetting back to norm<br \/>\nWas a long climb<\/p>\n<p>The angels all around<br \/>\nWere good and loving<br \/>\nHis battle was ongoing after all<br \/>\nWe tried so many ways to cheer his spirit<br \/>\nTo break into his blankness<br \/>\nAnd to call<br \/>\nHe would hide and be alone<br \/>\nFor many weeks he stayed<br \/>\nBy himself rebuilding<br \/>\nClearly he had weighed<br \/>\nUp inside his being<br \/>\nAll the ills and pain<br \/>\nHe had no way to affirm his thought<br \/>\nAnd express himself again<\/p>\n<p>We introduced some puppy dogs<br \/>\nWith Their playful innocence they<br \/>\nDidn\u2019t seem to reach him either<br \/>\nHe was broken one could say<br \/>\nBut he was surely healing<br \/>\nExternally he knew<br \/>\nWalking on three legs<br \/>\nHe could if he wanted to<br \/>\nAnd then one day we noticed<br \/>\nHis tail it wagged and he<br \/>\nHad come out of his bouts<br \/>\nOf total melancholy<br \/>\nHis eyes flashed with excitement<br \/>\nHis tail wagged round and round<br \/>\nHe played and he responded<br \/>\nHis feet back on the ground<\/p>\n<p>He was peppery and zingy<br \/>\nSomehow so inspired<br \/>\nHe ran about and cuddled up<br \/>\nAs if he had been rewired<br \/>\nWith all our love over the weeks<br \/>\nResponding lovingly<br \/>\nGet-up-and-go and too and fro<br \/>\nHe had found his gravity<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A street dog living on a ledge With waste ground all about Clearly something impacted him There just could be no doubt He was so in the worse for wear Literally torn apart His left front leg was hanging By &hellip;
