An experienced big game hunter
\nAnd his friend are on a hunt
\nIn Zimbabwe after trophies
\nAnd apparently the brunt
\nOf what is now the mystery
\nThat despite their knowledge
\nThey
\nWere charged by two wild elephants
\nAnd shot them so they say
\nHad they not raised their guns to them
\nThey themselves would have been
\nLying crushed and dying
\nFor clearly both were mean
\nAnd angry at their presence
\nElephants you see
\nAre sensitive and caring
\nOf their family
\nHunters have a smell about them
\nOft arrogant and loud
\nThey were after elephants
\nAnd this story, well it\u2019s soured
\nFor There wasn\u2019t any witnesses
\nJust these two
\nAnd we know
\nIts unlikely they would walk away
\nFrom the hunt
\nWith nothing to show<\/p>\n
Having studied elephants
\nFor a lot of years I know
\nWildness is extraordinary
\nAn all embracing flow
\nOf orderliness and harmony
\nOf matriarchal might
\nA foretaste to the future
\nAnd the everlasting light
\nYou can feel the unity
\nIt\u2019s durable and strong
\nTheir destiny inescapable
\nIt\u2019s just where they belong
\nZimbabwe wants more money
\nIt\u2019s postcode lottery
\nIs selling off the wildlife
\nAnd letting hunting be
\nThey have lots of animals
\nBut their inability
\nIs flogging them and earning
\nWhich the world will not agree
\nAnd so they feel impotent
\nPowerless and so weak
\nAnd so they welcome hunters
\nWith their game of hide and seek
\nExcept much of its canned and trophy
\nAll fixed so to say
\nThe animals do not get a chance
\nAnd cannot get away
\nIt\u2019s all about the package
\nShooting is one thing
\nThen it\u2019s taxidermy
\nAnd the trophies they can bring
\nOut of where they are
\nTo friends and folks of course
\nWho can share the lies they sell them
\nas a matter of course<\/p>\n
As for the destruction
\nOf the elephants before
\nWhy would experience let them down
\nAnd blood and gore
\nA mother and her baby
\nLost apparently
