\nHow fiction can change people\u2019s perception
\nThe bat the durian fruit
\nWhat\u2019s all that about
\nBats have got a unrepresentative

Vampire bats would congregate
\nAnd suck the blood of ladies
\nOften they frequented the graveyards

\nAnd many people out there seem to know<\/p>\n
How bats appear to most
\nThey are kind of creepy
\nbrainwashed we were by the gothic mood
\nThey make their homes in dark caves
\nAnd tend to feed at night
\nTheir little faces are grotesque
\nAnd we know sadly they bite<\/p>\n
Some suck blood and turn us into
\nVampires it\u2019s been said
\nIt was a horrific novel
\nAnd the vampires all were fed
\nOn blood they hated sun light
\nThey hated garlic and the cross
\nAnd Dracula he was considered
\nWell to be their boss<\/p>\n
In Malaysia and Thailand
\nA tropical fruit is grown
\nhigh up in the canopy
\nA spiky king
\nFull blown
\nTo be now most nutritious
\nBut awfully smelly too
\nWesterners have been known to puke
\nTheir heart up yes thats true<\/p>\n
But the durian is wonderful
\nAnd officianado\u2019s say
\nIt really has the weirdest smell
\nA magickal nosegay
\nOf creamy tasty segments
\nAnd a sweetness through and through
\nAnd Bats in fact take nectar from the flowers
\nSome clueless to<\/p>\n
The reason and their part in making
\nDurians at all
\nBy climbing for the nectar
\nPollination is the call
\nWithout all of them coming to feed
\nMost every night
\nThe durians wouldn\u2019t grow at all
\nNow you see the plight<\/p>\n
Of bats whose reputation
\nIs evil to be sure
\nBut as regards the durian
\nWho could want for more
\nThey all exchange the nectar
\nAnd the pollen from the store
\nAnd create this fruity wonder
\nThat I for one adore<\/p>\n
It\u2019s banned from public places
\nEating on the train
\nEating it in restaurants
\nThey\u2019d think you were insane
\nThe gothic novel Dracula
\nThe Durian fruit
\nSo many Malaysians love it
\nAnd part with lots of loot<\/p>\n
To buy them fresh in Malaysia
\nFrozen and distributed here
\nIt brings back all the memories
\nAll of them are clear
\nWhenever you first tasted one
\nYou almost know the year
\nIt\u2019s really very memorable
\nIt really raises fear
\nAnd it all can be smelled a mile away
\nIf a truck comes into town
