\nCame back floating
\nGrenfell must have happened two

\nThere but for the

A fire washed everywhere
\nWiped out
\nfloor after floor
\nThe cladding there
\nWas a death trap
\nNot like so much
\ngone before
\nJust pure despair<\/p>\n
The cheapskates
\nSomebody applied it
\nBuilding regs no more
\nBudgets handouts arseoles
\nReally at the core
\nThe people came from everywhere
\nSocially housed were they
\nClose to sleeping Began weeping
\nWhat could people say<\/p>\n
A spark became a fire
\nA fridge both hot and burned
\nA minor fire
\nIt became dire
\nAnd then the whole thing
\nturned<\/p>\n
Into, an inferno
\nThe building locked
\nin flame
\nThe council tucked up
\nin their beds
\nNobody to blame<\/p>\n
People could not get away
\nThe fire doors
\nRubbish yes yes they
\nNo sprinklers
\nand gas in the stairwell
\nAnd All of them would pay<\/p>\n
Seventy two
\nThe official figure
\nBut many more besides
\nCould be another seventy two at least
\nOh yes the tides
\nof Kensignton and Chelsea
\nWere turning we could see
\nVast great plumes of smoke and slaughter
\nAnd death the constancy<\/p>\n
It happened in just a few hours
\nThe measly contracts they
\nWere shown up to be insufficient
\nAt the end of the day
\nAnd seventy two sweet souls
\nDid perish
\nburned alive and
\nSlowly too
\nScreaming as their hair did sizzle
\nAs Some out of their windows flew<\/p>\n
Two years on and what has happened
\nThe contractors
\nWhere are they
\nWho decided on the cladding
\nWho applied it
\nAnyway<\/p>\n
Silence drifts across the district
\nThis cosmetic crap applied
\nOther buildings got the treatment
\nThe victims clearly were denied
\nTheir right to speak
\nTheir place in heaven
\nIn the embers all could feel
\nEverything they ever wanted
\nThey all got a rotten deal<\/p>\n
The council never heard
\nTheir bleatings
\nThey were tied up in their own
\nRiches councils people
\nBudgets
\nTo hear the screams
\nNot one groan<\/p>\n
Did they hear
\nDuty of care
\nWas filed away and gone
\nA tiny fire
\nAnd crappy cladding
\nAnd the delaying tactics
\nThat go on and on<\/p>\n
Correspondence seldom
\nAnswered
\nTalking down to those inept
\nSingle parents
\nSuch a nuisance
\nBut now the fire has all but swept<\/p>\n
The building
\nAnd the world can witness
\nAn epitaph decked out in green
\nGrenfell smouldered on for ages
\nAnd the only word left
\nIs obscene<\/p>\n
High rise buildings
\nDeath traps clearly
\nFire doors not as specified
