Some 30,000 Aka people
\nLive in the CONGO they
\nAre purely forest dwellers
\nIn the warm light of each day
\nPygmies under five feet tall
\nA faith and way of being
\nUndeniably indigenous
\nAnd genuinely all seeing<\/p>\n
The forest is their everything
\nTheir knowledge to exist
\nThey live there and they hunt there
\nLike gorillas in the mist
\nThey have traits and characteristics
\nBemba appears to be
\nThe god and the creator
\nThen the Djengi<\/p>\n
The forest spirit
\nA belief system exists
\nThey have their degree of order
\nWhich their history enlists
\nClearly their independence
\nIs worshipped even they
\nAre very inclusive
\nAnd, that is their way<\/p>\n
Family is the keystone
\nMen and women need
\nThey marry and have children
\nAnd what they read
\nInto such relationships
\nIs the longevity
\nOf children and the family
\nFor them really it\u2019s key<\/p>\n
Births are in the forest
\nIt\u2019s as natural as can be
\nA lot of babies die alas
\nAnd mothers desperately
\nTry to come to terms with that
\nAs do Father\u2019s who
\nSuffer such internal strife
\nAnd blame each other too<\/p>\n
Relationships are status
\nThere is a clanship you can feel
\nWomen have six children
\nFor them it\u2019s very real
\nA great deal of suffering
\nBut those surviving do
\nLook relatively healthy
\nThat\u2019s my general view<\/p>\n
A certain Linda Vastrick
\nA Swedish lass apparently
\nFound a group of AKA people
\nAnd made a film which
\nYou can see
\nCalled \u201cForest of the dancing Spirits\u201d
\nAn in depth study where
\nPeople are followed day and night
\nAnd their lives
\nWe all can share<\/p>\n
It\u2019s intimate and meaningful
\nAn expose that may
\nPresent their unpolluted lives
\nIn an holistic way
\nTheir integrity their oneness
\nTheir enduring capability
\nTheir influence and charisma
\nAnd of course their energy<\/p>\n
The owners really slavery
\nOf sorts something that they
\nSee as a vulnerability
\nAnd accept it come what may
\nNot seeing it as negative
\nBut as transformative and so
\nAble to provide them
\nWith recompense and show<\/p>\n
They still have some power
\nClearly
\nThere\u2019s a contract in a way
\nGive and take and neither break
\nThe contract so to say
\nThough pygmies they are big enough
\nTo initiate and enthuse
\nAnd not be dominated
\nIf the owners turn the screws<\/p>\n
Living in the forests
\nEncompassing the dream
\nThe men collecting honey
\nAnd the hunting team
\nNetting maybe elephants
\nHogs and antelope
\nCrocodiles and the mongoose
\nClearly they do cope<\/p>\n
No Mod cons and no internet
\nNo TV\u2019s Books or pens
\nJust dance and really story time
\nAnd talking to their friends
\nDrumming chanting calling up
\nThe spirits of the night
\nAnd Suffering the vagaries of what
\nComes as a right<\/p>\n
