Life hasn\u2019t been easy
\nI have never been
\nA lap dog to do as I please
\nTimes are lean
\nNow I am 15
\nIn the winter of life
\nAnd they left me at a shelter
\nImagine, the strife<\/p>\n
That caused me the YELPS
\nAnd the cries and the screams
\nI have been their guard dog
\nAnd now it seems
\nOld and quite lame
\nI am a big pain and they
\nDon\u2019t want me around
\nSo they sent me away<\/p>\n
Now I have emptiness
\nA vacuum in fact
\nHow should an old guy
\nActually react
\nI loved for certain
\nTaken for granted
\nPicked up and shipped off
\nAnd bloody well planted<\/p>\n
In a big shelter
\nGroundless and lost
\nSo unbegotten
\nReally just tossed
\nAway like the garbage
\nIn a black bag
\nNobody loves me
\nAs I\u2019ve lost my rag<\/p>\n
I was born a poodle
\nIts my hair it has grown
\nIt\u2019s knotted and unkempt
\nAnd I am alone
\nSome memories were happy
\nBut now how I feel
\nIs lonely and sad
\nWhich is hard to conceal<\/p>\n
I am a genuine article
\nI have a heart
\nI care and I feel
\nI did from the start
\nI still see the beauty
\nI still feel the need
\nBut nobody cares
\nSo where does this lead<\/p>\n
If nobody wants me
\nIt\u2019s a trip to the vet
\nA needle and that\u2019s it
\nCould be the best bet
\nMost now want wolf dogs
\nThe likes of me
\nAre just not romantic enough
\nTragically<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t walk too well
\nI can\u2019t run for a ball
\nThey said that I smell
\nWhen I laid in the hall
\nMy hair got all tousled
\nAnd fleas came to be
\nBiting and hurting
\nAnd that seemingly<\/p>\n
Meant I had to go outside
\nAll on my own
\nThe kennel was draughty
\nAnd every bone
\nIn my body felt cold
\nAnd achey to me
\nAnd now I am here
\nIn the shelter I be<\/p>\n
Sorry for myself
\nI just want to sleep
\nQuietly in fact
\nI just want to weep
\nObscurity seemingly
\nIs now to be
\nMy path to beyond
\nmy end game to see<\/p>\n
Time waits for no one
\nMy sand has run out
\nThe hours now are fleeting
\nI live now in doubt
\nWith no one to love me
\nWhat will I do
\nBut have the injection
\nAnd find pastures new<\/p>\n
The rainbow bridge
\nI have heard is the place
\nWhere everything\u2019s rosy
\nAnd life is all grace
\nParadise seemingly
\nFlows passed my door
\nAnd all the young
\nfriends
\nI once knew
\nI am sure<\/p>\n
Will all be there waiting
\nTo all say hello
\nWe can play on the grass
\nWhere the daffodils grow
\nWhere there\u2019s no painful limbs
\nAnd no angry shouts
\nSo if no one comes for me
\nI am in no doubts<\/p>\n
That\u2019s where I shall go<\/p>\n
