Enlightenment
\nin this day and age
\nWisdom really right off the page
\nAmusement and true entertainment
\nShouldn’t be
\nFrom buying a ticket
\nAnd expecting to see<\/p>\n
Animals Tortured
\nAnd assaulted They be
\nTerror in these babies eyes
\nMost agree
\nRoped up and frightened
\nthey do realise
\nits really one hell of a fight
\nI surmise
\nA lassoo around their necks
\nAnd then pulled tight
\nImagine that if you were running away
\nStopped in your tracks
\nIn what was such dismay<\/p>\n
So that an audience can be amused
\nDelighted watching calves being abused
\nIts unsightliness
\nAnd Its a hideous frame
\nIts frightful and shocking
\nAnd for you lot to claim
\nIts skillful and cultural
\nAll I can say
\nWe are letting the louts in
\nTo hanker away<\/p>\n
It is bad taste
\nIts tawdriness
\nLoud music crowds
\nIt creates so much stress
\nThese are farm animals
\nSweet Babies they
\nAre Disrespected in every way<\/p>\n
Fear you can cut it through with a knife
\nThose animals run
\nOut for their life
\nIntimidated by it all
\nThe electric prods
\nAnd the bloody fool
\nWho tries to ride bulls
\nAnd ofcourse falls
\nThat isnt courage
\nIt just appals<\/p>\n
Anyone Thinking or perhaps caring souls
\nThe lack of caution
\nNeglected roles
\nFoolhardiness that leads
\nTo shame
\nTo brinkmanship
\nAnd the Wish for some fame<\/p>\n
Watching the calves
\nHearing them crash
\nDown in the dirt
\nYea how they bash
\nTheirselves around
\nThese are babies and they
\nUnweaned and untutored
\nIn every way<\/p>\n
You can see the nonchalence
\nEverywhere
\nThe reckless and heedlessness
\nPeople dont care
\nFor all the young animals
\nFeeling the strife
\nHitting the dirt
\nAnd Some losing their life<\/p>\n
Where is the wonderment
\nOf little souls
\nThese are sweet miracles
\nWorking their roles
\nSomebody’s prodigy
\nSome mothers child
\nShocked out of existence
\nAnd really defiled<\/p>\n
Its about self-importance
\nEgotism we
\nCan see self-display
\nAnd self flattery
\nGods gifts to women
\nStrutting their stuff
\nConceited and arrogant
\nWe have seen enough<\/p>\n
Of such demonstrations
\nCultural wrath
\nThe blatancy the swagger
\nThat is a path
\nOf the pompous and priggish
\nExhibitionist
\nPuffing their chests out
\nWhich we’d try to resist<\/p>\n
Its baleful and spiteful
\nAnd very unkind
\nCreating the ruffians
\nWhats wrong are you blind
\nCant you see all the anger
\nCant you feel all the pain
\nThe abuse and the vitriol
\nThat all we gain<\/p>\n
Hearing the thump as the calf
\nHits the dust
\nLegs tied together
\nIts all blood and thrust
\nInjuring animals
\nIsnt the way
\nOf exciting our children
\nIt isnt okay<\/p>\n
Rodeo really is not of this time
\nWe have grown up a lot
\nFrom the pit most did climb
\nWe enjoy seeing animals
\nGentle and there
\nNot chased and roped
\nAnd ridden no where<\/p>\n
Not given to fear
\nTo roping to pain
\nThese skills went out with the ark
\nThe refrain
\nWe hear are the calves crying
\nThats what we hear
\nGrown men abusing
\nCreating more fear<\/p>\n
Heartlessness everywhere
\nNo empathy
\nUnfeeling impassive
\nUnmoved actually
\nBrutal sadistic
\nRemorselessly so
\nWhere is our mercy
\nWhere did it go?<\/p>\n
Rodeo’s wrong
\nIts a curse from the past
\nIts unjustifiable
\nan ugly blast
\nOf wrongfulness really
\nOf injustice as well
\nIts just inapropriate
\nCreating this HELL<\/p>\n
And calling it Rodeo
\nEntertainment galore
\nWheres the morality?
\nWhere is the law?
\nWhere are the ethics?
\nWhat have we become?
