Somethings are just wrong
\nAnd science seems to feel
\nBecause its done with someone elses money
\nIt is real
\nResearch it feels more palatable
\nBut in reality
\nTechnicians in laboratories
\nUse as much cruelty.<\/p>\n
So much impropriety
\nWrongheadedness and sin
\nIllegitimacy they overcompensate
\nTo win
\nthe hearts and minds
\nOf the many
\nWho think their stories right
\nIts a violation really
\nAnd A lot of it is just shite<\/p>\n
Take the cane toad for example
\nA marine toad big and strong
\nIt came from the America’s
\nSo, what could go wrong
\nIntroducing it to Australia
\nTo do
\nAway with the cane beetle
\nA dream story come true
\na way of maintaining profits
\nFor the sugar industry
\nTo be the be and end all
\nFor an eternity<\/p>\n

\nAnd by 1937
\nSo many were alive
\nOver 60000 leaping about and so
\nthey opened the doors and off they leapt
\nAnd what have they to show?<\/p>\n
How sadly that they are toxic

\nThe cane beetles apparently
\nToo busy killing the Northern Quolls
\nWho attacked them tragically<\/p>\n
The quolls are little feral cats
\nMarsupials and rare
\nEverybody loves the quolls
\nI mean you have to care
\nAbout these little critters
\nIconic through and through
\nSo science put its thinking cap on
\nAnd what it did do<\/p>\n
For me its an imposition
\nIts not logical at all
\nIts typical of hair brained science
\nText book stuff they trawl
\nThrough volumes of this nonsense
\nAnd so the big idea
\nLets make some toad leg sausages
\nAnd add an emetic tear
\nWhen the quolls try eating
\nCane toads they will know
\nIt just is not a good idea
\nAn assailant in the flow<\/p>\n
The smell of toad that made them sick
\nAnd by association
\nThey will not eat the cane toad
\nA memorial creation
\nTrying to save the sugar cane
\nThey introduced the toad
\nThe Njanmak cat was poisoned
\nSo a bad seed they had sowed<\/p>\n
The idea isnt guaranteed
\nTo work it is unjustified
\nIts merely a presumption
\nNothing really to overide
\nAnything for science
\nNo order of any day
\nSpending pots of money
\nWith lots and lots to say<\/p>\n
It doesnt work with humans
\nWho drink themselves to death
\nPuke all over their weekends
\nOr get off on meth
\nOn gangja some on opioids
\nOf course It makes them sick
\nBut they
\nGet off on it and still they do it
\nAny blooming way<\/p>\n
So why would a quoll be different
\nIts irreverent to think
\nBut they carry on spending money
\nAnd nobody does blink
\nAnd now the cane toads
\nReally
\nAre every blooming where
\nKilling all the indigenous prey
\nWho all seem unaware<\/p>\n
And how did All this happen
\nTo be a problem
\nYes of course
\nThe cane beetle and sugar profits
\nYes that was the actual source
\nScience said it was feasible
\nAnd so it happens they
\nAre guilty of the vast expense
\nThats happening today<\/p>\n
And now ofcourse
\nThey shrink back
\nNot a word we hear
\nAll that money down the drain
\nAnd more problems
\nIts clear
\nMore research and higher prices
\nWasting all this time
\nThe meat trade and the scientists
\nAre they worthy of a rhyme?

\nIn a battle that sees desire
