There is apathy and imperturbability
\nThe islanders and the Aboriginals do
\nHunt for dugong in amongst the eel grass
\nAnd the sea turtles spearing them, its true
\nThese are rare and sensitive beautiful animals
\nNative rights is one thing but each kill
\nTakes a time and is painful to the animals
\nWhy on earth so much blood do they spill<\/p>\n
Flipping over turtles and letting flap away
\nExhausting themselves and getting stressed
\nIn the hot sun day on day
\nAnd coming back to watch them
\nStill alive and trying
\nBut sadly slammed with Concrete slabs
\nAnd still without them dying
\nOften not until the carapace is smashed
\nThen the poor thing dies a death
\nIts whole existence dashed<\/p>\n
Similarly with dugongs
\nSensitives of the sea
\nWho come in close for eel grass
\nAnd the natives constantly
\nUse their spears and slaughter them
\nAn ugly picture here
\nDrowned often behind the boats
\nSubjected to such fear<\/p>\n
The islanders so many of them
\nAre unseeing of pure life
\nUninspired and unexcited
\nGiving them so much strife
\nFrightening them and making them suFfer
\nThese vulnerable sweet souls
\nAnd its down to native rights
\nAnd ongoing controls.<\/p>\n
There is much pain and suffering
\nUnhappy times are here
\nSo much desolation
\nThey undergo much fear
\nBoys doing the harpooning
\nand adding their body weight
\nDiving into the turtles
\nImagine that as fate.
\nThey do not have regretfulness
\nAnd this without a doubt
\nMurdered really native style
\nWhich is what its all about<\/p>\n
There has ro be some compromise
\nThe native rights brigade
\nHave to realise the worth
\nAnd every soul thats strayed
\nAnywhere near their harpoons
\nPerhaps should swim away
\nWe have to save these glorious souls
