{"id":41086,"date":"2019-04-26T17:31:47","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T17:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=41086"},"modified":"2019-04-26T17:43:35","modified_gmt":"2019-04-26T17:43:35","slug":"blue-bells","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/04\/blue-bells\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue bells"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lovers of light<br \/>\nWith a presence so true<br \/>\nLike a beautiful swarm<br \/>\nLike a great sea of blue<br \/>\nBorn out of ancientness<br \/>\nThe forest floor<br \/>\nLights up with colour<br \/>\nMore so than before<\/p>\n<p>Lovers of lime rich soils<br \/>\nFlowering April through May<br \/>\nUndisturbed eco systems<br \/>\nPerennials they play<br \/>\nInto the orchestral music<br \/>\nAnd we<br \/>\nAs Linnaeus observed<br \/>\nIn 1753<\/p>\n<p>For me an old  poet<br \/>\nWith the eyes of a child<br \/>\nSo engaged by the ocean<br \/>\nOf blue lapping wild<br \/>\nKeats endymion  became inspiration<br \/>\nAnd in ashridge forest<br \/>\nI hear the oration<\/p>\n<p>The  Greatest prose<br \/>\nOver a chalk soil<br \/>\nThe great understory<br \/>\nThe sanctum so royal<br \/>\nA fine sprawl of colour<br \/>\nTo intensify<br \/>\nThe motionless vista<br \/>\nExciting my eye<\/p>\n<p>Undisturbed and sequestered<br \/>\nA millpond  to woo<br \/>\nQuiescent and tranquil<br \/>\nAnd purplish blue<br \/>\nTransfixed by the beauty<br \/>\nStopped in my tracks<br \/>\nSharing  affinity<br \/>\nThats all else lacks<\/p>\n<p>Richer in pollen so loved by the bee<br \/>\nWho attends to the nectar<br \/>\nThat sweetness so key<br \/>\nIn our true pollination<br \/>\nThe bumbling souls<br \/>\nWho love our sweet perfume<br \/>\nIts one of their goals<\/p>\n<p>In life exaltation<br \/>\nThey dive, they ascend<br \/>\nFill up their baskets<br \/>\nFarewell to their friend<br \/>\nMake off with their bounty<br \/>\nThat tangible treat<br \/>\nThat taste of correctness<br \/>\nSo very complete<\/p>\n<p>Abundant<br \/>\nin hedgerows<br \/>\nAnd coastal plains<br \/>\nBefore trees are fully leafed<br \/>\nThey go to great pains<br \/>\nTo draw down the light force<br \/>\nAs much as they can<br \/>\nFor that is their true need<br \/>\nTheir general plan<\/p>\n<p>The quiet miccorrhizal<br \/>\narbuscular they<br \/>\nAre phantoms in many ways<br \/>\nPlanning their way<br \/>\nforward<br \/>\nObserving the  temperature,<br \/>\nthe water<br \/>\nSo many gaze out ready, to lure<br \/>\nEuromyces muscari<br \/>\nAttracting the pure<\/p>\n<p>The sugary sweetness<br \/>\nThe olfaction so blue<br \/>\nIt just wants to smother<br \/>\nAn ambrosial view<br \/>\nWinding through the shadows<br \/>\nThe hush and the still<br \/>\nThe cyanic laughter<br \/>\nA sapphire or two<\/p>\n<p>The trees feel beholden<br \/>\nThat witness the scene<br \/>\nFrom the great auditorium<br \/>\nWhere  they have been<br \/>\nlooking up as the pealing<br \/>\nBegins now in haste<br \/>\nAttracting attention<br \/>\nWith their bodying grace<\/p>\n<p>Happy birthday to you<br \/>\nDEAR DEANA <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lovers of light With a presence so true Like a beautiful swarm Like a great sea of blue Born out of ancientness The forest floor Lights up with colour More so than before Lovers of lime rich soils Flowering April &hellip;
