\nHe is going to be
\nMy son
\nMy protege
\nHe could be a genius too
\nIdentical in every way<\/p>\n
He came out of the same pod
\nI will dress him up in green
\nAnd give him a shot gun
\nIt wont make him mean
\nA baikal single barrel
\nAnd, what he can do
\nIs practice on his teddy bear
\nAnd get his eye in too<\/p>\n
Got to start off
\nYoung these day
\nWe live here on a farm
\nSo he can take pot shots
\nAt birds
\nHow can he come to harm
\nI am raising him to be a man
\nA farmer so to say
\nNot some lily livered
\nOffice waller
\nBut a farmer all the way<\/p>\n
And am giving him a start in life
\nMaking him a man
\nSomeone I can look up to
\nHe can be a fan
\nI can get him shooting
\nRats and crows and mice
\nHe can his earn his keep a bit
\nWouldnt that be nice<\/p>\n
Four years old
\nAnd shooting
\nToday a parakeet
\nA flock came in to
\nEat my seeds
\nWe aimed
\nYea to unseat
\nThe buggers
\nOne dropped brilliantly
\nRight out of the sky
\nFirst blood to my precious boy
\nWho watched his first shot die<\/p>\n
He picked him up and carried
\nHim home to show his mama
