\nSuch disappointment we
\nHave to try to contemplate
\nDisgruntled that we be
\nAmerica is blighted
\nWith High School Rodeos
\nAnd clearly so much true abuse
\nSeen in youth that grows<\/p>\n
Out of a belief system
\nThat we have to try and bond
\nWith horses and to do this
\nWe should never abscond
\nFrom our daily duty
\nTo abuse all animal kind
\nHorses goats and baby calves
\nAnd help youth to unwind<\/p>\n
To the unfolding discovery
\nWhich is put on display
\nThe notorious the eye catching
\nThe palpable that play
\nInto the insidious
\nThe lurking skulking ways
\nThat baby animals can be tortured
\nA conspiratorial phase<\/p>\n
A disassociation
\nWith abuse it must be said
\nIts a form of education
\nMisinformation led
\nPlayacting insincerity
\nDisguised as something good
\nPerhaps its wishful thinking
\nBut really how this could<\/p>\n
Ever be seen as positive
\nIts beguiling all who pay
\nIts really disengenuousness
\nConcocted all the way
\nDuping youth with such abuse
\nMisrepresenting skills
\nFor me turgid and tasteless
\nWhere blood and torture spills<\/p>\n
Out into the open air
\nWhere the voiceless have no say
\nThe drama known as rodeo
\nActed out each day
\nTo those who are unwilling
\nWho hesitate to tread
\nGoats tethered to ropes
\nAnd then manhandled
\nWhich has led<\/p>\n
To injuries and broken bones
\nAnd bruises everywhere
\nCalling for endurance
\nAnd fortitude aware
\nOf there being no alternative
\nFor it has been decreed
\nAnimals are up for it
\nAnd riders must succeed<\/p>\n
Some see it as commendable
\nOthers as a shame
\nPraiseworthy and essential
\nAll part of the game
\nWicked and iniquitous
\nTroublous as a whole
\nTo pit ones strength
\nAt victims
\nAnd to go to say that
\nIs the goal<\/p>\n
To beat them into submission
\nThis the gravity
\nOf expression and true consequence
\nThe linchpin actually
\nThe usefulness the skillset
\nThe virtue of it all
\nFor me its just obnoxious
\nAnd too close to call<\/p>\n
Shoddy and pathetic
\nThrowbacks to the past
\nCreating many victims
\nAnd those who stand aghast
\nTethered tied and waiting
\nTo be thrown about the place
\nTo be engaged in forlorn hope
\nWhich just is a disgrace<\/p>\n
Elegance and deftness
\nProficiency and style
\nAccomplishment and bonding
\nIt is off the dial
\nHorsemanship and aptness
\nAt variance with care
\nEverything is a challenge
\nFor all the riders there<\/p>\n
Expecting submissiveness
\nFatalism they
\nbe forever yielding
\nJust have to give way
\nHave all fight knocked out of them
\nThrow down their legs and cry
\nEat the dirt around them
\nAnd so much humble pie<\/p>\n
Out in the arena
\nThe theatre of war
\nFighting for the trophy
\nThe honours all adore
\nForget the continual struggle
\nAnd the adversity
\nThe doom and gloom and agony

Goat tying barrel jumping
\nPole bending and the rest
\nTeam roping
\nWe are hoping
\nTying legs to test

\nWho scuff and scrape
\nThe living flesh

What I feel is so abusive

\nCallousness and pitilessness
\nAnd true depravity
