I am driven to say
\nHow the red grouse do pay
\nA party of toffs
\nThe arrogant scoffs
\nAt those of us who
\nFind it cruel what you do<\/p>\n
Its known as a sport
\nOne with little thought
\nA pastime where woe
\nIs where many do go
\nBeaten cajoled
\nBy frighteners all sold
\nOn the spirit of death
\nAnd of stealing the breath<\/p>\n
From the iconic gift
\nThe Red Grouse who dares
\nTo fly in the air
\nAnd honestly shares
\nFrom a hide in the ground
\nThe toffs do abound
\nGuns blazing away
\nIn a meaningless way<\/p>\n
Eight or ten guns
\nAmbushed and made
\nThe challenge to leave them
\nDont spoil their parade
\nLet them fly free
\nAs a wild bird they should
\nGiven to flight
\nThat would be right<\/p>\n
The inglorious time
\nWhen death comes to be
\nWhen torture and pain
\nAre effectively
\nGiven by toffs
\nWith more money than sense
\nAnd so little compassion
\nPrimarily dense<\/p>\n
To the true field and dale
\nTo the northerners who
\nWith spirit snd light
\nGo forward and do
\nControl predation
\nOf mammal and bird
\nUsing traps and vile snares
\nWho cant find the word<\/p>\n
To progress far away
\nFrom the killing fields where
\nFoxes and crows and stoats
\nAlso share
\nTheir wildness their nature
\nTheir spirit and soul
\nAnd are murdered by toffs
\nWho take on the role<\/p>\n
Of protecting the spirit
\nAlienating those who
\nFight for the right
\nTo be given to be true
\nSnaring and trapping
\nAnd torturing those
\nGifted via Nature
\nTo add to the prose<\/p>\n
The beautiful word streams
\nIndulging the heart
\nReplacing the red grouse
\nBy driving a cart
\nFull of shot through these angelic
\nAngels of light
\nClosing their eyes
\nTurning each day to night<\/p>\n
Its unsightly and hideous
\nIts graceless and wrong
\nDefacement and squalor
\nIt doesnt belong
\nIn this day and age
\nSo repellant it be
\nGrown men who exchange
\nTheir will soulfully<\/p>\n
Its in very poor taste
\nIts vulgar and loud
\nMost unrefined
\nIts a most hateful crowd
\nWho come with their weaponry
\nReady to kill
\nThe absurdity of it
\nThe blood that they spill<\/p>\n
Their irreverence shocks me
\nUnimaginativeness
\nIn their ascendancy
\nI have to stress
\nThe inglorious nature
\nOf murder most foul
\nWhere the upper classes
\nShould throw in the towel<\/p>\n
Give up this haughtiness
\nThis true flagrancy
\nWhy the celebration
\nThere is nothing to see
\nJust a party of guns
\nAnd a mindlessness set
\nOn outwitting each other
