Able to assess the scene
\nThe unpredictable they
\nWere always up for taking on
\nA climb for in a way
\nThe peace and quiet of
\nMountain life
\nAt altitude we feel
\nSo testing of the spirit
\nSo critical so real<\/p>\n
This triangular wedge
\nOf rock exists and beckons
\nThose who feel
\nThe urge to walk to realise the sinew
\nThe appeal
\nTo share the air to take upon
\nOnes countenance the height
\nTo experience the true extremes
\nAnd know inside its right<\/p>\n
Climbing towards the skyline
\nUp there in the free
\nHowever sheer
\nHowever wet
\nIts where we want to be
\nThe adverseness one can witness
\nThe creativeness abroad
\nSo out of reach of many
\nThe incomparable reward<\/p>\n
Two dear friends lost forever
\nIn a climate of great peace
\nWith the wherefor all
\nTo raise the alarm
\nTheir training a release
\nOf energy and trauma
\nThey never lost the plot
\nThe enormity of infinity
\nFor them it meant a lot<\/p>\n
They taught you to be able
\nTo see the vastness, they
\nTo reach the light of living
\nAn all-embracing way
\nTheir love and care expressing
\nThe union both felt
\n“Munroists” both were aiming
\nPerhaps ice may have dealt<\/p>\n
A blow then they were up for it
\nTenacious through and through
\nWilling to reach uncertain heights
\nUp there in the blue
\nThey could hang together
\nEmbrace to soulful, they
\nWere inseperable together
\nClimbing was their way<\/p>\n
To lose two friends
\nTwo buddies
\nTwo men who took the way
\nLeaders in their own right
\nTheir station was away
\nUp there in the mountains
\nWhere the spirit meets the sky
\nTrail blazers and trend setters
\nAlways on a high<\/p>\n
They imparted their knowledge
\nTo you Nicki and showed you how
\nYour sequel was to follow them
\nAnd realise that now
\nThey are always with you
\nQuietly by your side
\nTruly watching over you
\nPart of every ride<\/p>\n
Forth into the sunset
\nTheir duality of force
\nThey walked and died together
\nDiscovering their source
\nPerhaps the freezing temperatures
\nThe strong winds took a toll
\nBut they were strong together
\nSharing heart and soul<\/p>\n
Its hard to come to terms with loss
\nThe boundlessness of space
\nIts beyond our comprehension
\nAnd in their resting place
\nThey both will surely sadden
\nAt leaving you behind
\nKnowing though deep down in you
\nThey can always find<\/p>\n
A friend who cares who shares
\nWho dares to take the great munroes
\nWho understands the fragility
\nOf life and really knows
\nHow much they loved the mountains
\nWalking was their thing
\nFugitives of city life
\nThe height it seemed to bring
\nSo much of their true spirit
\nOut of them and they
\nShared it with you Nicki
\nBefore they slipped away<\/p>\n
Eternity for all of us
\nIs continual, you know
\nThey both are everlasting
\nTill the end of time
\nWe grow
\nThey are with you always
\nIts hard I know to feel
