Algal blooms
\nProduce bacteria harmful
\nTo us all
\nAnd one fisherman discovered
\nA turtle
\nAnd what did befall
\nThis truly beautiful creature
\nWas the clearly uncomfortable plight
\nSwimming in a polluted sense
\nHow could that be right<\/p>\n
A fisherman who catches fish
\nFor a living
\nBut could feel
\nThe suffering
\nA waking nightmare
\nAnd how it did reveal
\nTo him the mental torment
\nThe angst the agony
\nHow terribly unpleasant
\nHe could feel the misery<\/p>\n
Compassion for another
\nWith a deep seated ordeal
\nIndisposed snd writhing
\nLongsuffering and real
\nHis body head and flippers
\nHis shell confounded by
\nThe really horrible algal bloom
\nAnd the fisherman knew why<\/p>\n
The pollution that was out there
\nSo decided what he could do
\nHaul the turtle onto his boat
\nAnd set to work to view
\nThe predicament before him
\nWith brush and brine and care
\nHe cleaned the turtle of the bloom
\nLoved him and tried to share<\/p>\n
As gently as was possible
\nRemoved the ugly mess
\nAll that irritation
\nTrying to redress
\nAll his aggravation
\nTo enhance his whereforall
\nTo get him free of all that bloom
\nA crumb of comfort call<\/p>\n
Be worked alone for ages
\nCleaning off the shell
\nThe face the neck the flippers
\nDoing it so well
\nHe must have felt much better
\nThe weight of all that muck
\nHe must have felt much cleaner
\nHe must have thought his luck<\/p>\n
Had so improved, I am assured of that
\nAs he was pitched back in the sea
\nHe strode away much happier
\nClearly feeling free
\nThe fisherman was able
\nTo use kindness and to be
\nUnderstanding and sympathetic
\nWith his sweet charity
\nAble to console a living being
\nFrom the sea
\nAnd able to assist him
\nTo once again feel free<\/p>\n

\nOf the turtle
\nFrom his eye
\nRed and just acknowledging
\nHis benediction there
