The cruelty can get to you
\ncan upset
\nand can draw
\nyou down into
\na purgatory
\nand leave you
\nsad and raw
\ncan make those tears
\nrun freely
\nand make your heart
\nbleed out
\nknowing animal earthlings
\nare screaming
\nand in doubt
\nthose with eyes to see
\nbut fail to understand
\nthose with ears
\nwho plug them
\nrather than
\nhear the yelps, the moo’s, the grunt’s
\nthe choking for they can
\nbe heard in every country
\nevery second of the day
\nas throats are slit and precious life to them
\njust ebbs away
\nthe cries
\nthe ugly scenes
\nthe vilest torture
\nits all there
\nand dwelling
\nat its
\ndoorway
\npure hearts feel dismay
\nthe ugly side of farming
\nthe dreadful things
\nsome do
\ntrappers, Hunters, Trophies
\nwhat a motley crew
\nalmost every creature
\nis treated badly, and
\nexperimentation
\nand vivisection
\ndone by a human hand
\na sadness
\na malaise of sorts
\ncan turn the minds
\nof those
\nwho work to stop this
\nhappening
\nunderneath your nose
\nrespect them, love them
\nthey need at least that

\nsadness casts a poignant note
\nas each new life is gone
\ncalling them by ugly names
\nthose sweet courageous few

\nthat is heaped upon their plate
