A length of willow
\nTearfully sprung
\nWitches brooms
\nWere once among
\nThe uses for a branch
\nTo be
\nHeld and whittled
\nLovingly<\/p>\n
An aromatic inspiration
\nFeminine and lissom too
\nThe outer green
\nand inner bark stripped
\nWhere once great beads
\nof sparkling dew<\/p>\n
Resembled tears
\nwere then rewarded
\nPeeling off the inner soul
\nA very moist wood
\nEasy growing
\nDawn’s staff fashioned
\nSuch a role<\/p>\n
Mistletoe
\nMay come and borrow
\nWhere primroses dance with joy
\nThe bark contains the salicyn
\nThe origin of Aspirin surely
\nPain killing properties within<\/p>\n
Paint or wax the ends
\nSo drying
\ncan be accomlished
\nEffectively
\nGreat care is needed when
\nSanding willow
\nThe dust
\nCan harm
\nAnd we must be<\/p>\n
Aware of this
\nAnd its uniqeness
\nIf one needs to travel
\nThe willow will
\nGet you further
\nit has a power
\nTo do it faster
\nAn inner skill<\/p>\n
To take the wood
\nAnd hew and chisel
\nWork the wood
\nWith hands and heart
\nIn ancient times
\nIt grew in China
\nIn watery pastures
\nAnd sent its art<\/p>\n
The willow pattern
\nIts immortal nature
\nRe-birth is a constancy
\nShort lived but a tree of beauty
\nIts goddess ofcourse Hecate<\/p>\n
Such patience
\nBlade and whittling magick
\nArtisanal majesty
\nCreative thinking outside the box
\nWith genuineness and clarity
\nA connectedness with the druids spirit
\nAnd all-embracing way to be
\nA joyful soul a smile recorded
\nAt the rollright stones were we
\nFreezing weather hail and blizzard
\nBut Dawn’s sweet smile
\nWas ofcourse a key<\/p>\n
And now the willow staff is growing
\nAgain in spirit and will be
\nA support, on grassy hollows
\nWhere tree roots trip
\nAnd uniquely
\nA crystal head
\nWhere light and colour
\nWill obviously now glorify
\nDawn’s staff embellished
\nAnd hand finished
\nAnd the willow sweeps
