Lying panting underneath
\nA porch Yes there he lay
\nThe worse for wear
\nAll alone
\nLiving with despair
\nIn India in Udaipur
\nRajasthan was he
\nReally very very sick
\nAs sick as he could be<\/p>\n
By the hand of fortune
\nAn animal hospital saw
\nTheir willingness to help him
\nThey were receptive
\nAnd whats more
\nEager and ungrudgingly
\nCarried from the place
\nMange covered his body
\nAnd his little face<\/p>\n
He was sick and lonely
\nMaggots in his back
\nTheir initiative was wonderful
\nHe was under such attack
\nOthers had been reluctant
\nTo notice him and he
\nWas clearly very close to death
\nIn a deal of agony<\/p>\n
The angels from the shelter
\nTook him gently they
\nLoved him washed him tended him
\nEvery single day
\nAll his scabs they washed him
\nHow they did persevere
\nTheir singlemindedness with him
\nWas very very clear<\/p>\n
And he was very mindful too
\nWanting the love and care
\nNot screaming he was quietly
\nSo very aware
\nNo one had cared for ages
\nHe was starving every day
\nDirty, full of grime and dust
\nHe was rotting away<\/p>\n
But now their care and diligence
\nTheir meticulous display
\nThoughtful and painstaking
\nSo much melted away
\nHis anxiety his alertness
\nCame back and he could feel
\nThe love all of them shared with him
\nIt was so very real<\/p>\n
Their fondness and understanding
\nSuch devotion for him, he
\nWas once again in love with life
\nIt felt so good to be
\nLoved and picked up and cuddled
\nHis tail wagging with joy
\nLicking caring faces
\nNot those he did annoy<\/p>\n
Humanity regained respect
\nAgain he felt secure
\nHis carers were enlightened
\nFor him life became pure
\nTheir compunction and their pity
\nAnd, their gentleness
\nClearly he was grateful
\nIt wiped away the stress<\/p>\n
His coat grew back
\nIt was lustrous he just felt good again
\nOne of the family hopeful
\nUnder a new refrain
\nOf happiness and laughter
\nOf gleefulness and joy
\nHe really was glad to be alive
