Apparently it feels to me
\nThat native women seem
\nTo have always been in jeopardy
\nAs long as the people dream
\nThe Indigenous women
\nTragically seem at risk
\nOne has to say
\nAnd in Winnipeg such violence
\nSeems to happen come what may<\/p>\n
824 inuits have been murdered
\nOr are missing we hear
\nMany have been found in the river
\nTheir Murders unsolved
\nAnd great fear
\nIs evident and I can understand that
\nFor a lack of respect seems to be
\nWidespread harassment and sexual abuse
\nAnd a harshness and severity<\/p>\n
It is thankless and so disappointing
\nIts insufferable in the extreme
\nIt certainly renders my heartstrings
\nTo feel ghastly and grim it would seem
\nThat the Metis people they suffer
\nResigned to the pain that one day
\nThe people could grow to show them respect
\nAnd not just look the other way<\/p>\n
There is intimidation for certain
\nMisgivings and mistrust about
\nPeople are wary people are watchful
\nTheres a rudeness thats never in doubt
\nPrejudice as for the reason
\nDiscrimiation its there
\nThe red river sculptures

Snow sculptures lie on the ice sheet
\nOf women the victims alas
\nPoignant reminders of those who are missing
\nAnd in a way the great mass
\nOf beautiful women and each is a soul
\nLost to the world of their dreams
\nNeglected by life and the family perhaps
\nAn affront to a real womens role<\/p>\n
Its outrageous as it is insulting
\nThat so many women have been lost
\nTheir lives the irreverent circumstance here
\nIs really how much it has cost
\nHow many murders have happened
\nWithout due convictions as well
\nFor the women and girls who are
\nKilled or are missing
\nThis part of the world is pure Hell<\/p>\n
So to see on the ice these pure sculptures
\nRepresentations in art
\nEach of a beautiful memory
\nThat catches ones breath for a start
\nA life form created in snow
\nIn consideration for those
\nVictims imagining where they are now
\nEach breaking somebodys heart<\/p>\n
