The monument bathed in sunlight
\nThe air was crisp and we
\nThe protectors of the wild ones
\nCame out to stand and be
\nMessengers to the many
\nPassing by who might
\nForget that in these glorious woods
\nThe wild souls and their plight<\/p>\n
Was coming to a head me thinks
\nTrailing for the Hare
\nThe brown one oh so magickal
\nJust a few still there
\nWere bound to feel the undoubted wrath
\nOf the National Trust
\nWho Thought it was a good idea
\nA kind of boom and bust<\/p>\n
These beautiful of creatures
\nHarming no one they
\nLive in their own secrecy
\nThats how they pass each day
\nGifted by our mother
\nAshridge be supreme
\nA wondrous winter playground
\nMorever its a dream<\/p>\n
Come true in all its wildness
\nAnd creatures great and small
\nHave to be protected
\nYes by one and all
\nAllowing trailing licences
\nAnd hunting our disgust
\nReally is gut wrenching
\nAnd so to the National Trust<\/p>\n
You have to be forthcoming
\nYou have to walk your talk
\nTrust the nation wants it
\nThe land is built on chalk
\nSuch strength is in the history
\nOf caring and we all
\nMust share the gifts of nature
\nNot just break every rule<\/p>\n
Hares and foxes matter
\nMoney in the bank
\nFrankly know your wisdom
\nAnd understand you rank
\nHighly in the nation
\nSo dont throw all that away
