\nBack in the time
\nWhen a gallon of petrol
\nShows how it can climb

\nA gallon its hard to believe that

Might go into a pub
\nWhere a nice pint of ale
\nWould be under 10p
\nSounds, a likely tale!
\nBut its true
\nThen an average sized house
\nAnywhere
\nWas \u00a34300
\nAnd
\nI dare
\nSay cars cost around
\n600 quid
\nLadies hairdressing \u00a32
\nThe lid
\nSoon came off of those prices
\nFor now what we pay
\nIs 50 times more
\nIf we’re lucky

The world
\nHas moved on
\nWho’d have thought it
\nin just fifty years
\nA baby called Carolyn
\nNappies and tears
\nThrough school
\nAnd ofcourse still going strong
\nWith your mum on her 900cc
\nAll along
\nA biker a teacher a druid was she
\nAnd you reaching 50
\nA half a century<\/p>\n

A solitary druid
\nWalking the path
\nAnd teacher training
\nAnd now the old bath
\nRoad is where the revellers
\nHave all come to
\nTo share in your wonderment
\nAnd it is true<\/p>\n

You have had bike training
\nWow thats a thing
\nThe whole family bikers
\nThat truly does bring
\nInto the poem
\nAn exciting twist
\nan amazing milestone
\nA motorcyclist<\/p>\n

Quiet and unassuming
\nBut clearly profound
\nOf spirit and mind
\nFew people around
\nHave such meditative
\nQualities
\nAnd biking too
\nHappy Birthday dear Carolyn

We didnt have face book
\nTill 2004
\nAnd twitter 2006
\nYes I’m sure
\nThe formative years
\nWere libraries and school
\nNo social media
\nNothing at all<\/p>\n

\nAnd the Wheatsheaf Hotel
\nWhich is in Leckhampton
\nSo I hear tell
\nA big celebration
\nA live band in tow
