\nAnd a reasoning power seemingly
\nGives purpose and great understanding
\nTo deep thought and profundity
\nRaising awareness to a mindful degree
\nAbout murdered women and the missing
\nThat we
\nSee among the Indigenous And proud Navajo
\nA contemplative act concentrated to show<\/p>\n
The great world at large
\nA healing path to
\nA brainchild of hope
\nA deliberative view
\nA 100 mile walk
\nWindow Rock to Shiprock
\nA co-founder John Tsosie
\nAnd others with a great power
\nTo lock<\/p>\n
On to the problem
\nAnd especially to
\nRemember one Ashlyne Mike
\nA young girl who
\nWent missing and was murdered
\nAnd her father walked too
\nRemembering his daughter
\nEach and Every step laden
\nWith solace anew<\/p>\n
Her mother
\nSpoke at events on the way
\nA pronouncement confirming
\nThat no one should pay
\nFor their birth right
\nWhatever and wherever they be
\nIt took guts and great strength
\nAnd belief which was key<\/p>\n
Historically speaking
\nThe idea had come
\nFrom the the “long walk to Bosque Redondo”
\nWhen once again some
\nNavajo people walked
\nThen under the thumb
\nOf the US government
\nEthnic cleansing and they
\nDid what they knew best
\nAnd walked all the way<\/p>\n
Its authentic and peaceful
\nWhere truthfulness reigns
\nInterllectually sound
\nAnd done with great pains
\nInspiring through foresight
\nAnd breadth of mind
\nBoth Lucid and coherent
\nWith a sense they could find<\/p>\n
A lasting impression
\nA meaningful time
\nClearly significant
\nGiving birth to this rhyme
\nA notable journey
\nUnfolding each day
\nAnd drawing the mindsets
\nIn such a way<\/p>\n
For 15 years the organization
\nHad been working hard
\nFor the Navajo Nation
\nRaising awareness
\nIn so many ways
\nAffirming and asserting
\nand worthy of praise<\/p>\n
Nigh volumes of cases
\nApparently do
\nIn Indian Country
\nIt hapoens all through
\nHuman trafficking
\nDomestic violence
\nAnd more
\nBut With their positive
\nTeaching
\nFew now ignore<\/p>\n
The work they do
\nAnd the energy they put into it<\/p>\n
The title of their dedication
\nHere
\nWas a sign carried throughout the walk
